Don't get me wrong, i enjoyed this game alot. it's an incredible game with top notch graphics and detail with historical accuracy so well researched that was so cool to see, but i just felt this game wasn't as good as a game that i always heared about. My major issue with the game was the repetitivness. all of the missions you got had you do the exact same thing, gather intel and assassinate your target. first couple of times it was fun, but then i got boring because the same idea is being used over and over again 8 times. They could have added some veriety in the way you assassinate these target and gather information on them. I wish it was more RPG like with complex puzzles intergraded. Another problem i had with the game were the cutscenes. In my opinion the story is beautiful, but the way they attempted to tell it through the cutscenes where not. Games like RE4 and God of War have about the best and most interactive cutscenes i have ever seen in video games, mostly because they are fun to watch with action sequences as they explain story details (mostly GOW), and also include button commands for interactivity. The button presses for those glitches was a failed attempt. It just became a nuisance. Button commands should have been used in action scenes, while also explaining the story. the combat was fun for the first hour you got counter kill, then everything relied on it. that got boring real fast. To fix this make weapons upgradable or something, that unlock more brutal animations, and maybe more weapon veriety. I just feel it's not as good as a game i always hear people say. This game could have been alot better IMO.

I really liked this game, but I also had a few problems with is such as the repitition like you mentioned, not being able to enable subtitles and that guards should have been way more agressive and harder to fight. Other than that I loved it.

A tip I have is to disable as much as the Heads Up Display as possible, for me that made the game so much better as you have to pay more attention to your surroundings and may notice things you didn't before.

I agree 100 percent with what you said........but maybe you should just write a review of the game, it would be easier and more people would read it.

To be fair, a lot of people also hate this game and found it to be as dissapointing as you. I for one also found it repetitive and, although beautiful, boring.

I just finished the story a week ago and really enjoyed playing it.

People criticise it for being repetitive, but I didn't find it to be an issue. Each task was relevant to what you were doing, and only 3 had to be done for each assassination. They revealed a bit more about the target, as well as providing maps of guard positions and where the target would be for the assassination attempt.

I loved the free-roaming aspect, and performing leaps of faith for very high points were always fun to do and impressive to watch. The fighting was simplisitic, being basically one button for everything once you learnt counter, but there were still lots of different counter animations depending on target position, how close they were, and what weapon you were using. Even after half a dozen assassinations I would see the occasional new one.

the only problem i had with assassins creed was the repitition because all you do is the same investigations when i played the begining i thought i would be beating info out of a target more often because that is my favorite way to gather info but most of the time you just find an informant or eaves drop and sometimes pickpocket.

I liked this game a lot, especially with the novel ways in which you could totally screw with the guards. :D  I hope they address the repetitive nature in the next AC game, and do something about the combat. In the later levels, the enemy count on screen and the amount of cheap hits they get on you is just absurd.

first of all.i want to say that. no one forced you in the game to do the "cutscene glitches" you still get the same cutscene except from Altair's perspective.unless you do the glitch.where you get it from a diffrent perspective.i do agree with the repetative part.the combat is basically the same thing over and over. until i found out you can counter with the Hidden Blade. which was the awesomest thing ever. there's not that many missions. they arent very repetative. your in diffrent settings. doing the same thing.which isnt very repetative at all. the eavesdropping missions you get to listen to diffrent conversations each time. Not repetative much.the interogating missions. you follow him into and alley. he gives you info. he begs for mercy and you kill him. i gotta admit. that was repetative.the assassinations themselves were very immersive. you learned a few lessons from them. and the victims told their story from their eyes and point of view.why they thought what they were doing was right.and even though you at first thought they were doing bad. you mightve changed your opinion afterwards. I think that was a very neat part of the storyline.the storyline itself was what kept me going.it was awesome with alot of twists.climbing tall towers and buildings is fun. its something you dont get to do in other games.this game was good. im guessing it just didnt fit your taste.

You gotta be the right kind of person to appreciate (sp?) Assassin's Creed. You have to love the platforming and climbing things. I am playing through it for the 2nd time right now, and it's just now getting a bit boring and I'm almost done the 2nd playthrough.

I thought Assassins Creed was an alright game. I loved it how you could climb anything, do giant leaps of faith and kill guards with the hidden blade. I also loved the graphics and story. My only let down was the repetitiveness of the side missions. Hopefully Assassins Creed 2 would put some variety into the side missions.

I agree with you 100%, I realised playing this game comprimised my devotion and faith I had once put into it, I'm looking at it as the experiment, the 2nd time can't be a let down. They have to incorporate more ideas

I've also tried to look at every aspect of it, game play and environment is excellent, fighting is nice and new it's crisp, the story must have been the hardest thing in the world to make interesting, but it failed bad there. The side missions are repetitive, but you can tell they tried their hardest in this game. Honestly I can't fgure out anything else you can possibly add to make this game even better. It's like the developers were stuck in check mate here. The 13th century(spoiler) might work better here.

I really don't understand what you're saying about having heard this game was awesome; most people bash it. Because of peoples' negative opinions of it, I went into playing Assassins Creed with comparatively low hopes, but was pleasantly surprised.

Sure this game is repetetive, but I really enjoyed it, so I'm willing to overlook this personally.

It does get repetitive but it's still very enjoyable. I really liked it. It's slower paced but it's very realistic, almost to a fault.

Almost :P.

I played it for the story. And i would buy a sequel. It was like Grand Theft Auto with a horse. I know a lot of people will disagree with that analogy, but it was repetitive.

It should have had a better ending. At least showing him escaping the facility would have been enough for me.

Yeah, the game was nice at first - nice graphics, good fighting at first with horseriding and diving from the towers. But eventually became boringly repetative.

The game isn't historically accurate...

And actually the game is frequently bashed. Your far from the first to call it reptetive.

Your argument about the cut scenes is pointless though. Just because there isn't constant action doesnt mean the cut scenes are bad.

when cutscenes aren't done right, they take away from the greatness of a game. look at MGS4. now if you've ever played games like god of war or RE4, you'll see what i mean by when i compared the cutscenes. cutscenes rhat drag on and on in a game with nothing to look at but characters just talking makes you want to put your controller down.
