After dealing with my 360 that didn't want to install the game because "it was scratched" (it took me 15 trys to finally get it installed) I started the game, I'm level 5 now (almost 6) with good karma and all that, the thing is that I made my character strong with melee & explosive weapons because I read it was the best thing to do on the first playthrough, but after reaching radio galaxia I realized that it's best to use a gun (via vats) for the big guys, so my question is: can I change the initial values I selected when I was a child or do I need to start a new game?

skill tags can't be undone, tags like, big guns you are stuck with for the rest of the game, you can add one later in the game around lvl 20,general skills like endurance can be added to but not removed in anyway with use of a perk. You may want to create a new person and choice carefully and choice what suites you!!

Small Guns are good for early game. Who told you it was melee? :? And explosives is only good early on so you can get a safehouse quickly(Quest related).

But dont worry, the game is really forgiving when it comes to adding stats. Especially if you get broken steel with he additional 10 levels.

I choose it because of a web site fully dedicated to this game were people posted their builds and of course the web site had some specific builds for specific "classes" like a stealth class, melee class and so on... They all agreed that for a person who had never played the game melee stats were the best choice... they were wrong :( And yeah, I already have my own house thanks to the explosive stat but I don't see it as a great thing, I can live without my own house.

If you want the bobbleheads don't forget on some missions... once you do it, you can't ever go back.. cause lets say.. maybe uhm, the place gets blown up? :P

(Hypothetically speaking) And you missed a bobblehead, you can't go back and get it, and if you choose to blow up megaton, you should get the bobblehead there first, i'm pretty sure thoes are the only 2 you can miss.. I made this mistake.. twice..

melee - definitely not the way to go for someone new to the game. Go for small guns - as they are useful throughout the game. Repair - keeps all your equipment in good condition and saves you a lot of money. Science or Lockpick - lots of places are locked unless you can either hack or pick your way in. Worth having one high, and both is a bonus. High intelligence is also an important stat to have high from the start, as it affects the number of points you get to spend with every level up. INT 9 at the start of the game will give you a very nice boost, and also make it easier to correct early mistakes in your build. Given you are only level 6 it really wouldn't take long to start over, and considering the amount of time you could spend playing this, it probably is a good idea to start over. However if you have all the DLC packs, crucially Broken Steel to raise the level cap to 30, then you needn't be so worried about getting your build perfect, as there will be plenty of levels and books to get all your stats to 100 before you reach L30. (It can be done by L20 but required a lot of planning).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you'll have a few more things to do for Moria before her book is complete - The Wasteland Survival Guide is one of the longest quests in the game. Each set of things to do just covers one chapter. You get a nice bonus at the end, but you earn a lot of XP and stuff along the way just from doing each part of her quest

Nah I don't have the expansions yet and if I get them, it will be via the GOTY edition (bought in the UK) so I guess my version of the game (it's from spain) won't be compatible :S

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations ^^

I'm on the second chapter of the book, the one you need to go to her seriously wounded (not with a high level of radiation), use a stick on the rat mole or however they are named in english and investigate some fish man :P

Anyway I did a couple of missions with Lucy's letter, investigated a lot of the world (which gives you exp) and just reached galaxy radio, I suppose you didn't do all the missions I did.

That advice about melee and explosives was not very good. You should have upgraded at least Small Guns. Eventually start upgrading Energy Weapons once they become common in the world. The best things I've found to tag as my main skills are Small Guns, Lockpick, and Sneak. Make sure to invest in Medicine as early as possible too.
