This is actually quite interesting, Xavier.

Why did you choose to be a socialist?
This isn't condecending, I honestly want to know.SingtheSorrow1

Keep in mind I'm a Robert Owen communal socialist,

"Eight hours' daily labor is enough for any [adult] human being, and under proper arrangements sufficient to afford an ample supply of food, raiment and shelter, or the necessaries and comforts of life, and for the remainder of his time, every person is entitled to education, recreation and sleep."

Robert Owen beleived in freedom, it made it so free houses, education, health care, and affordable food was made available to all. The strongest beleif in the left wing communal socialist movement, is that everyone deserves food, shelter, education, sleep and recreation, and no one is be held above another. None shall steal because all shall have.

He also didn't beleive in child labour or corporal punishment, both of which I am firmly against.

I could go into a 90 page thing about it all, but, you get the basics yeah?

Freedom, free education and health care, affordable shelter and food, and all deserve recreation (aka fun).

The problem that you run into is that people will exploit whatever flaws they find in their systems, and that greed destroyed communism, and it spreads like a plague. Capitalism is driven by greed masked by the need to advance, and that advances society. Greed and Jealousy inspire one another to outdo each other, and when viewed in a positive light EG: Doctor Jones wants to cure Cancer before rival scientist Dr Smith does to receive the prize...This is all good, and while I understand the beauty of provided basics, people will trash them if they are given it with no strings attatched. Yes, people deserve these things, but I think you're more likely to appreciate them if you bleed for them.

Haha...And I hope that this discussion proves my worth as an intelligent GSer

Well, Robert Owens transformed an entire villiage onto this system,

if a villiage can be change, a Country can be changed,

and if a Country can be changed, the entire planet can be changed.

Greed is foolish, maybe I'm too much of an idealist, but, I beleive in the fundamental decency of people.

The greed that appears to be just a cut is indeed a permanent scar, my friend.
That is why capitalism breeds. Yes, you can convert a LARGE number of people, but someone will always want more. If that one person gets more by his own hand, maybe making money by a craft on the side, then others will do the same. When you get a mass of those people crafting, and trading, you'll eventually get back to Capitalism, or some variant thereof.

It's not that the idea is foolish, but the factors of humanity are infinite, and the definition of something on paper could be radically different than that in life. I never believed that Communism was evil (Not that you are, just as an example) and I really think that there were those that honestly believed it helped, and those that it actually helped, but even the officials behind it all swindled and betrayed. The human desire to do what appears to be an ascent to the almighty status is seenmany times throughout history, and I think that it will continue to be that way. It's just nature. To rise from the ash.

communism and socialism are not the same thing.

Anyways, we're going way off topic here,

I'll bring up this discuss in the right forum some time,

anyways, on topic:

Sorry for the off topic responses, just one more...

I know Communism and Socialism are not the same, but as a real world example, Communism fell because of its own greed in the centralized structure that it needed so badly. There are a few places out there under Communist Regime that do at least satisfactorily, but the world would never change. It can't. We're so diverse that it would fall, be it anything. Just like in the same way that Capitalism would never work everywhere, some people just cannot stand the thought.

Call of Duty 4 and Mario Galaxy. Two truly underappreciated titles who deserve the upmost respect from developers. They need to follow the examples made by these guys. They don't take advantage of the dreams of kids who expect something phenominal. These aren't the same thing as the previous game in the series.PaVILiOn_010

Call of Duty 4 and Mario Galaxy are two OVER appreciated titles. Everyone thinks they are amazing but there are way more good titles out.

ha ha, you think that's funny? check this out:

i just got a moderator warning about a post i made calling out Eidos for flat out lying about review scores on the Official Kane & Lynch website. Their refusal to accept the fact that game sucks is mind boggling.
