Its hard enough playing games as it is after working a 12 hour shift and my entire body feeling like Jello. The last thing I want to do is wave my arms and head around, trying to play a game for long hours or even more than a few minutes.Murderstyle75
Lets just say ill believe it when I see it. M$'s PR department acted as if the original Kinect was the greatest thing to happen to gaming since the analog stick. Even worse, they then alienated the majority of core game development in favor of it. Games like Quantam Break and Titanfall may seem nice but I've been waiting for games like this for a few years only to see dance and fitness Wii games shoved down my throat instead. I'm also not so sure I want to see all this integration added anyway if 2.0 does end up being anything other than another gimmick. You don't understand how Kinect works
Kinect was never meant to replace the controller, it was meant to enhance it.
Also I don't understand how you think that there's only dance and fitness games while games like Skyrim and Mass Effect and FIFA are out there.

Yet everything these games do have been proven to be fine without Kinect in games like Tom Clancys EndWar. Do you really think an over priced camera is needed to do voice commands? Now there is hype about not needing a television remote even though both Amazon and Walmart sell a voice activated TV remote for $25.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="Murderstyle75"]Lets just say ill believe it when I see it. Now there is hype about not needing a television remote even though both Amazon and Walmart sell a voice activated TV remote for $25.You're thinking of the past. I hated those dance and fitness games too, don't get me wrong, but that's the past. The new Kinect has features that are going to make gaming better. Features like light detection and seeing in the dark, features like reading your heartbeat. Features like sensing how much pressure you put on a body part or which way you're leaning. Features like being able to map your orientation.
We're not just talking about flailing arms anymore. We're talking about using these features to supplement gaming. Think about being able to play a horror game in the dark and the Kinect senses your heartbeat slowing down (as in you're calm) and picks an opportune moment to scare the hell out of you. And that's just what I can think of. Imagine what developers will think of. There's some really clever and imaginative ones out there that will do wonders with it. You need to start thinking forward. This is precisely why I believe the PS4 is doing nothing to move gaming forward. I'm not trying to bash the other console but to me a company that never takes risks like the Kinect will never get gaming to the future.
Take a look at this video. It's actually very impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7GBUeHv_Ts
I think people are using the whole spying thing as an excuse to justify bashing the X1. In reality, there's nothing to worry about. I think the foil hat is a little tight on some people's heads.wwervinEven if the spying were true, I don't care since I'm not cooking meth or making snuff films in my living room. If someone in Redmond wants to watch me eat a Hot Pocket or sing along to a TV show's theme song, they can help themselves.

Also Kinect makes games better, FIFA and Forza are two examples.
In FIFA you can command your team while playing and never take your hands off the controls.
In Forza you can speak what destination you want and it sets your GPS that way, things I've been able to do in my car for almost a decade now.

If someone in Redmond wants to watch me eat a Hot Pocket or sing along to a TV show's theme song, they can help themselves. If they wanted to watch you eat a hot pocket, they probably already could. It's not that hard to spy on people, not to mention you probably have other camera devices and stuff in your house. What makes people think Kinect is any different?[QUOTE="wwervin"]I think people are using the whole spying thing as an excuse to justify bashing the X1. In reality, there's nothing to worry about. If you're just using the Kinect as a voice input device, I don't think you understand how Kinect works. A headset could do the same thing and cost way less than $100. This is why the Kinect is useless. Even the people defending it don't know how to actually use it.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="Murderstyle75"] Yet everything these games do have been proven to be fine without Kinect in games like Tom Clancys EndWar. This is why the Kinect is useless. Even the people defending it don't know how to actually use it. A simple headset will not be able to decipher what you're saying. The Kinect is what does that. It has voice input and recognition capabilities. Furthermore, voice input is but one feature of the Kinect. If you're really going to bash the device and say it's not worth $100 and only mention voice input, then you are the one who has no idea how to use it.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="Murderstyle75"] Yet everything these games do have been proven to be fine without Kinect in games like Tom Clancys EndWar. Kinect is a completely inclusive device, it does everything and it's always there.
A headset is as stupid as 3D glasses, something you need to wear to make it work.
One of the reasons Kinect works seamlessly in all it's applications is because it's always there.
Jaysonguy, all you've mentioned is the voice command feature so far. I'm just going by what you've provided. Enlighten us, how else did the Kinect make gaming new and exciting?ch2423
That's what I use it for mostly
I have played Gunstringer and Wreckateer and those are good as well and they need motions
The whole idea is to open up things like voice commands and head tracking for games. As I've said many times in this forum, Microsoft has no intention of getting rid of the controller.
Now there's people who want dance and exercise games and all that, they're more then welcome on the console too.
Kinect allows all these different types of players to have something that's out of the way that can work with anything.
This entire thing isn't complicated, by adding Kinect you attract casuals (the only demographic that matters when it comes to games) and you allow devs to give veteran players more control options either by voice or motion.

100% agree.Quote is staying. Deal with it. You also never answered my question (or the other ones posed to you). How else did the Kinect make gaming new and exciting?I suggest you remove that quote
Also I'll just chalk this up to you saying "Jason is right and I have nothing left in the tank so I'm going to act like a child"
That's fine

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Report him to a mod. These trolls need the ban hammer. So its trolling to question the necessity of a $100 accessory in a post about that accessory being a bad idea? And then when you are unable to answer simple questions about said accessory, just ban 'em. Great debate skills you guys have. You'd think after wasting so much of your life on here you'd be better at this.I suggest you remove that quote

I don't like kinect but I don't care that it comes with the new system. What I am strongly against is how MS is making it mandantory and have an agreement with the NSA to record and monitor all it's customers and they give that info out. They are also very likely to sell info to other companies and there is nothing you can do about it. This is a HUGE invasion of privacy and people are over looking it. I won't be getting xbox one for the sole reason I don't believe all the things I say or type should be recorded.. I'm not a prisoner, I'm supposed to live in the land of the free.Rattlesnake_8I'd like to see your sources good sir, because you are severely misinformed.
Kinect is weak as heck. Yea let me go spend $200 so I can dance infront of my TV.Sonny360Elite
Somewhere there is a village missing its idiot... go home now.
But the positive is that at least revs are free to be more creative with it knowing every One owner will have it.I really wish it was optional. As it is right now it's the main thing holding me back from purchasing the X1.

i bet you guys hate kinect 2.0 when it completely ruins xbox one sales and then the dev studio's and publishers no longer find it profitable to make games for a system that has a low install base. --> see wiiu as an example.<--
