L4D THE most overrated game ever?

When I first downloaded the Left 4 Dead demo my first run through or two were pretty stale and boring, because yes, the gameplay itself is stale and boring in general. Anybody who says that this game is something new and unusual is kidding themselves. This game has been done and re-done for years and years. The difference is how well this game works with a team. Like I said, my first few run-throughs were boring. However, determined to give the game another shot I played it a few more times, lucky enough to get a decent, talking, communicating team. Willing to co-ordinate and take chances, something about the teamwork aspect of this game makes it come alive moreso than any other co-op game. It's a social shooter, and its value comes directly from who it's played with. A few run-throughs with friends and even good, random strangers on xbox live and this game is on my to-buy list.FloydianBrad

^ what the title says. cant believe that every reviewer gave this garbage of a game a good review. i would rather play nazi zombies on COD 5, and that was a free add-on to an already great game. this game should have been an add-on to the orange box, and cost half as much at most. $65 to do the same thing over, and over, and over again? nikka please!! this game is now added to my list of games that successfully gets away with the same repetitive crap, and actually gets praised for it. some others on this list... the GOWs and Halos (from game to game, not individually).

L4D is fun with the co-op and all but there is no depth you pretty much go from point A to point B and while the mutliplayer is fun that's it it's only a multiplayer game I'll just wait for Aliens: Colonial Marines when it comes to co-op focused games.

bottom line: dont make a topic about how overrated a game is if you havent played the actual game and taken time to assess all of its qualities. the people who make topics to support a game usually have or have beaten the game. its ok to show your opinion but not if its a biased opinion jus so you can rant and have people agree with you

the game is short, and it might get old. but if you like killing zombies and you have some friends on live, then at least rent it because you will probably enjoy the experience regardless of its drawbacks.

Left4Dead is the best coop shooter EVER and one of the years best onlien games.

The missions are awesome with friends and the versus mode is fantastic.

This game is the most fun ive had in years and years on a videogame. Simply the perfect game for coop with friends, it really takes alot of teamwork.

If anything its underrated imo. Games this good only come out a few times every generation. So i completely dissagree with you.

I Was going to get L4D but then i though 4 maps, same zombies as the demo, same weapons, doing it all over again but in different places....no thanks. i got me banjo kazooie : nuts & bolts,prince of persia. they are both very great games.XxSTILL_BORNxX

You made a BIG mistake man, judging the demo on as the full version isnt very smart. This might be the best coop game ever. The AI director also makes it differnt everytime you play it. Not to mention the versus mode is simply breathtaking.At least rent it, because this game is miles better then Banjo (which i like aswell).

No, actually the demo is just like the rest of the game (excluding multiplayer) but with different locations.

You can't really say that it's THE most overrated, because for the most part it got decent ratings, not like absolutely fantastic. If you don't plan on playing online, then I can see why you would be underwhelmed with the premise, but honestly this game is the most fun I've ever had on an online game playing with friends. Any other so-called "co-op" game lets you play with others, but very rarely do you ever really help each other out or depend on another's actions as much as this game. I love just playing with random people and saving them, and likewise them helping me out. It gives you a great sense of friendship with complete strangers. :D

I agree, the fun factor for this game just DESTROYS all other games. Coop with friends and versus mode are awesome. Game of the year for me.

If you never intend to go online with it, then dont' bother getting it.

Otherwise, it's one of my favorite games this year. There are multiple paths in some places. And the AI director keeps things unpredictable by placing weapons, ammo pick-ups and enemy spawns random. The only exceptions are then rescue sequences. Playing with friends adds yet another layer of replayability. The versus multiplayer is as refreshing as Splinter Cell's multiplayer.

What I really like is that it doesn't pretend to be anything more than a pure arcade experience with a 28-days-later veneer to it.

Left 4 Dead is a vehicle for creating great watercooler moments.

The AI director makes each time you play the game completely differnt!

Also the versus mode is awesome aswell!

Ive played over 50 hours on the PC version and ive only beat 3 out of the 4 campaigns on advanced or expert

This game has endless replay value imo and is the best COOP game to play with friends of all time.

The point of LEFT4DEAD is FUN!!! Its hands down the msot fun ive had over 20+ years of gaming! This is epic coop at its best!

Yes, all you do in L4D is kill zombies. On another note, all you do in CoD:WaW is kill Japanese/Germans. All you do in CoD 4 is kill Ultranationalists. All you do in Bioshock is kill spliced up morons, and all you do in Half-Life 2 is kill brainwashed policemen. Every FPS revolves around repedetive shooting. And that's what makes L4D so good. The Director means that, in co-op, there will be no predictable moments in each level when you or one of your teammates will point out a certain encounter with certain zombies and how to handle it. As Co-op in an FPS goes, there is none better than L4D.

Besides, Valve is already planning to release new content for L4D (But only on PC :P)

Go away if you don't like the game then. You probably don't like it because you're juding it entirely on a friend not playing it.
