Laptop Cooler keeping your 360 cool

DOn't know if this was mentioned before or is common knowledge. The July Offical Xbox magazine had a small article where someone mentioned that a good way to keep your console cool was to purchase a laptop cooler. The laptop cooler gets its power by connecting to your 360's USP port. It sits right underneath your console. These coolers only cost around $30. So I said what the hey, it couldn't hurt and guess what it works like a charm.

I have an older repaired console so this couldn't hurt in extending its life a bit longer.

Yeah those things are pretty nifty. I might have to get one soon. My room gets pretty hot sometimes. I'm in a converted lift bedroom, facing towards the sun. We didn't get any blinds because they would have had to be specially made and fitted and would hve cost hundreds. I haven't had any major issues with my Xbox as of yet, but it's nice to know of a cheap way to try and prolong it's lifespan.

Meh, it is how it is. Anything useful than can be plugged into the USB port will get powered by the 360 though. And it's not as if your Xbox is going to run out of battery or anything.

Agreed. One of the reasons that other intercoolers had problems is because they draw power from the 360, something it isn't really designed to do. Just because you can plug different things into a USB socket doesn't mean they all try to draw the same amount of power.

If you want something to cool your 360 then I would suggest something that is powered independently. Even a desk fan positioned next to your 360 would be preferable to drawing power from the console.

I'm updating this posting. The laptop cooler that I bought works great on the 360 ... but I recently noticed that when the console is off that the cooler is still running. For some strange reason its stilldrawing power from the USB. Don't know if this is common or its just my console but if you have a laptop cooler connected double check to make sure that its not running when the console is off. I just removed the plug whenever its off and attach it when its on.
