I was looking at purchasing this router but i had a question for anyone that might know. Can i have my Xbox 360 hooked up via ethernet cable and my laptop via wireless and have them both be online at the same time, or do you have to switch between the two (wireless & wired)?

There are 4 ethernet ports in the back of the router. I have my laptop running WiFi while my Xbox is hardwired into the router. It works perfectly. I even have my file sharing set up through windows media player so i don't have to waste precious HDD space storing music on my xbox :p

its decent. well honestly i cant tell you because my router is pretty far away from my 360, so i dont know if its because of that. but id say 96% of the time i have great! connection with the adapter

I have this router and have everything hooked up just as you described and it works perfectly. My wife can be pissing around on the laptop over wireless and i can be shotgunning people in the face on CoD4 via my ethernet cable connection.

The router is great. So easy to set up and while it does occassionally drop, this is only maybe once a month.

I used to have the same router. It'll work fine with that setup. When I originally started using wireless, I had no problems with lag. The only issue would be loss of connection due to interference. For that reason, I also have my Xbox hardwired while using wireless elsewhere.

In terms of performance, you should see no problems with lag over a wireless connection. The signal simply doesn't take that long to process. Bandwidth is also not an issue since you don't need anywhere near what a 802.11g router can do.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. I'm a networking major at school and a CCNAso, while not an expert, I do know something about the subject.

Also, for reference, my old wireless connection was over 802.11b and the interference was coming from a 2.4gig spread spectrum cordless phone. Almost every time I picked up the phone, I lost my wireless connection.

I know someone that is having that same exact problem. One way to fix it is to either switch to a cordless phone operating at 5 GHz or change the channel on the router to either 1 or 11. That SHOULD fix it.

Oh and to the OP...you should be fine as everyone else stated.

If you connect to it via your laptop it will be fine. Except for your NAT ofcourse, which will be strict because it will be a double NAT, thats the same setup I have, but with a different router, and using a computer as a bridge results in an unsolvable strict NAT problem, which is why I'm going to be buying the XBox official wireless adaptor soon.

Although its a beautiful router be warned though it is not a MS certified router for xbox live. Although it works and works well you may have trouble hearing certain players on the headset over live also you may not be able to connect to certain matches in games (have both problems even though I have an open NAT). If you want a router for your xbox that will work flawlessly you can find a list on the xbox website. If you don't mind the slight Live hiccups then just go for this router cause it works wonders.

I won't lie, this is a great router. BUT!! since this router broadcasts on a 2.4 GhZ frequency, it is not always the best option for an Xbox 360, who's wireless controllers also broadcast on a 2.4 GhZ frequency. I had a small problem with this and my wireless controllers would not stay connected due to frequency interference. problem is easily resolved by changing the frequency from midrange 2.4 ghz to a high or low 2.4 ghz frequency, such as 2.412ghz or 2.494ghz.

I have a wireles WRT54GS, and my connection with the Xbox is very weak (only one bar is filled and xbox is only about 10 feet from router) and I can rarely join chats. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Yes You can. I do it all the time without any issues. I have it set up exactly as you describe. Now granted performance is all based on your internet connection speed.
