You know what is strange.....In all of Mass Effect there is not ONE ladder in the whole game. Did anyone else notice that?
Shadowrun had some of the most un-realstic ladder climbing it was painful cause when youd go 3rd person with the katana you would just slide right up the ladder

Oh my god, that was definatly the longest ladder in history, it took atleast 2 or 3 minutes to climb that. i seriously thought it would never end.
Halo 3, Half-Life 2, including the episodes, Fallout 3 (although you don't actually see the process of climbing them), Castle Crashers (maybe, can't remember).

in gears 2 you press action and your guy always does the same jumpy ladder climb. starts to get annoying. i also always remember the sound of climbing a ladder in far cry 2.

Yeah, this is the game I was thinking about when I saw the thread title.
Interesting topic. I never really thought about it, but now that I do, I rarely climb ladders in real life, yet do so often in video games. I suppose that, in a game, a ladder is a quicker and easier to bring the player to a new level.
