Listening to Music While Playing?

I only do it while playing games like: CoD NHL 13 GTA IV Saints Row Fight Night Champion I only do it while playing these games because you really don't need to hear to do good in these games I DON'T do it in games like:  Battlefield I can't think of any other games I don't do it in Basically I feel that Battlefield is the only game I need to be fully aware of my surroundings in to perform well Anyone else listen while playing, if so, what games?

I might consider listening to music only when playing sports games. Otherwise, in-game soundtrack as well.

Ive tried playing my own music during Spelunky... But its very dangerous as that game has a bunch of important music cues you can miss. D: But yeah, GTA and most online games I can play without missing anything.

I used to game like that all the time. I plugged in my iPod and that's how I got my music. You can stream wireless from the PC too. I used to do that a lot. Now I would just rather use something like Pandora radio and play it in the background. I wish I could play it from my TV at the same time.
