I really like what I've seen so far, it has the same feel of a FF title with a mature twist. You can see alot of work went into the score, the story, and the fantastic Thousand Years of Dreams that most twitch players will skip over unfortunately. The load times are not longer then a few seconds, nor is there some 30 second wait before battles like I heard in other reviews.
My favorite feature is the sprinting around town option, which really makes traveling ALOT faster.
[QUOTE="darkSIDEechoes"]My friend loves FF games and now it got a 7.5, he's like OOOH I DONT WANT IT NOW! He always says he doesn't care what score they get, either...is it still worth it if he loves FF games?ghostjga
Yes.
I figured..he's like OOH NOS! Long load times!
gamespot cant be taken seriously about there game reviews if l o got a 7.5 then turok should get a 5.0but thet gave it a 7.0 one rating less then l o i guess l o should of paid more money to gamespot wat a bunch of sellouts i stick to ign and 1up for honest reviews anymore
Just remember that game reviewers are often under a severe time constraint when it comes to completely playing through a game. This can cause that frustration and cause the scores to be lower. Any score of 7 or above on Gamespot constitutes a good game and is worth buying and playing. People need to stop being so sensitive about internet game reviews. If you think the game deserves a better score, good for you, I hope you enjoy the game.dxy592
Very well said, I couldn't agree more!
Chrono Trigger is better, why not makea sequel, everyone would buy it lolCoreoVII
Chrono Trigger beats almost every single RPG to date, that much is obvious. But most, if not all of us, have played through a couple times and are looking for something new.
To heck with the reviews. If you like Final Fantasy 1-10 then you will like this game. I've been playing FF since number 1 on nes and I am very pleased with the way this game turned out. It's exactly what I was expecting. I love this game deep with tounge. It's like a darker, more interesting, slightly more interactive, prettier version of Final Fantasy 10. Love it or hate it. Gets a 9.5 in my book. jmartin1016
Exactly. Besides, Kevin VanOrd is a fat idiot. Who listens to him anyway?
people i speak from experience on this game, the load times are not that bad, lol no worse than alot of the games that have come out this generation whether it be on the 360 or ps3.
the game has an excellent story, and some great compelling music. and the gameplay takes the traditional jrpg style and gives it a slight twist, all in all prolly the best rpg for the 360, although that i say that alot of oblivion lovers are gonna be upset that i said that and try to bash on me but oh well.
Yeah, they hacked up the review pretty bad.
PEOPLE! DONT LET THESE REVEIWS SWAY YOU FROM PURCHASING THIS GAME!
THE REVIEWS ARE WRONG!

I want a new chrono trigger game but square soft let the project die and the trademark. I would really love a new chrono game considering it is the best side games square soft ever put out. The only thing that would worry me is that would square enix be able to capture that same magic that made the first one great? I really don't know if square enix would be able to over come the greatness of the first one.

I'll most likely never enjoy another game's story ever again after FF7, but I'm really enjoying this one so far. I'm actually surprised how good and well presented it is.
The only thing I don't like so far is the battle system. As much as I like turn-based systems, It seems like no matter how far I level I don't do enough damage to the bosses. They keep kicking my ass. Don't get me wrong, I usually beat most of them on my first try but it seems like I'm having much more trouble than in Final Fantasy's games.
Oh wait...there is possibly another thing that this game's been bothering me about. Random battles. There isn't enough of them. It seems like I have to run around for an hour to find a fight. The good thing is, leveling up doesn't really seem too difficult...so I guess it kinda balances out.

There was Chrono Cross right?.. Kinda like a sequel... With 3D graphics and other updates...

I think he means a sequel in the series in general (Chrono Cross sequel). Knowing my luck it would come out on PS3 only.
Anyone who claims to be even a remote JRPG fan must buy this game. It saved me from trading in my 360, and I'm glad it did. THIS is the traditional JRPG I've been waiting for. It takes everything I loved about those dusty old mid-late nineties JRPGs, slaps a pretty coat of paint on it, gives it a good story with superb "dreams" (aka kind of side-stories about Kaims' apast) and an amazing soundtrack into a fantastic package the likes of which has never been seen before. I love that it's on 4 dvds, too. It takes me back :)Staryoshi87
Yeah, agreed. I don't think I like the combat though. Everything takes waaaaaaaaaaay too long. Every single random encounter feels like a mini-boss battle.
I'm just about level 30 and my dumb melee attacks from Kaim and Seth only do about 200-400 damage. There's also no tents or sleeping bags in this game and I've had a hard time trying to find anywhere that sells MP-restoring items.
Other than these complications I'm really enjoying the story. But I already have my complaints about the gameplay which I never expected to see in this one. In games like Final Fantasy (6 through 9) I could be running, get into a random battle, and within a few commands I would continue walking on. Every random battle feels like 30 minutes of fighting to me in Lost Odyssey : /
The battle sequences are a little slow (not bad at all imo), but the story makes up for it :) I enjoy the ring system and the traditional layout though, it's a nice change of pace from the changes of pace out there today, heh.Staryoshi87
The ring system is cool, but I have noticed little difference in damage when it hits "Perfect!" and "Good!"
I'm used to my melee attackers being the bane of all existence rather than one of my casters.
I am just not a fan of Kevin V reviews.
I felt Mass Effect and Metroid PRime 3 deserved 9.0
I felt No More Heroes and Assassins Creed deserved 8.0
I felt Eternal Sonota was a great game but i would only give it an 8.0
I felt DMC 4 was really good and on the verge of AAA, I think it should have gotten 8.5, 8.9 by old scoring system
And currently I think Lost Odyssey is great. But im only on disc 1 right now.jg4xchamp
I agree with your scores. If I had to rate Lost Odyssey now, I would rate it a 9.5. I'm 16 hours in, 2nd disc. It's the best JRPG I've ever played so far.
Break it up, people. You can debate all you like, but please keep it civil. That means no partially-visible swearing, and no personal attacks. All that that sort of thing does is to make others defensive, which greatly decreases the likelihood that people you're talking to will listen to you. As such, posting in that tone of voice is really hurting yourself more than anything by ensuring that people won't seriously consider what you have to say.
Let's keep it civil. Take a deep breath and relax. We're not enemies here, we're just people who happen to disagree with someone else.
EDIT: I probably should note that this is directed at two people whose posts I deleted due to Terms of Use violations. Those posts immediately above this post are fine. :)

Maybe you should do a better job of restraining those people? I did nothing wrong. He attacked me because he couldn't comprehend my first post. Do you think these kinds of things would happen if the moderators did their jobs?

I wasn't around when he originally made his post. I would have deleted it if I had been.
Look, I understand that he started it. But the fact remains that it's just unproductive to post personal attacks. I can assume that from the fact that you responded that you wanted to make him understand your point of view. What I'm saying is that attacking a person won't help that along. It'll just make the person get even more defensive and be more likely to attack you back. This is bad for both parties, both you and him. Fighting fire with fire only serves to make everyone burnt.
If you want to talk further about this matter, let's take this to PM so we don't disrupt this topic for anyone who wants to talk about Lost Odyssey. I'm happy to discuss the matter with you if you're still unsatisfied.
