I'm a patient guy but I've finally had enough of my current Xbox. I've had the thing for over a year and a half and it still technically work but it has trouble reading disks. I can usually get it to work after a few (dozen) tries. It took me 30 minutes the other day to get Gears of War 2 to work. I've finally had enough and I'm thinking about buying a cheap arcade system and just keeping my hard-drive. My only worry is that after I drop the cash for an arcade, microsoft may drop the price...do you think that there's a chance of that happening soon?

Should I replace my dying xbox or hold out for a bit?

I don't see a chance for a price drop until this fall. I'm sure you could get at least $75 on ebay or craigslist if you want to sell it. Sounds like a simple dvd drive replacement job so people will buy it no problem.

you and your Xbox really need to sit down and talk through your problems.. perhaps then it will do what it was designed to do.. either that or it needs teaching a lesson.. Place a 'Wii' infront of it, obscuring it's view.. I bet it gets it's act together then !

Wait until E3..until then stick it out with your current one. Oh yeah, I too just started having random disc read problems..but it mysteriously went away..I know it'll return and be completely through..but I'm just hoping that's not the case :(

what type of xbox do you have now?

if you have a old 20 gig i would trash that. and buy the elite spring bundle for 299 that comes with halo3 odst *that has the halo reach beta next month* and forza 3 and most places are givinf a 50 dollar gift card when you buy it. so that could buy you another year of xboxlive or use it towards that new wireless adptor. thats only 70 some at walmart. or maybe a arcade stick.

if you have a 60 gig and aint worried about installing to many games on it. i would get a arcade system. a few friends of mine own them and they dont make near as much noise as my 20 gig does.and they run cooler. and every arcade has the jasper chip in them. so its less likely you will get rrod.

i read a rummor about a store sale ad selling arcades for 99 bucks with 2 games.

other then that i dont think their will be a price drop till after june. maybe 50-80 bucks to clear out stock to make room for the natal bundle that will prolly ship this fall

i have a great pc and i just bought a new 360! now is the best time ever to buy one! you get 2 free games (forza 3 and halo 3 odst) and the new elites have a 120 gb hard drive and the jasper which means no more RROD. so i am very happy (even though i am having trouble getting on xbox live) and i bought some games like pdz, geow, madden 08, plus those 2 i got with my console. the total price at gamestop was $33 for those 3 games plus an edge card and subscription to gameinformer magazine. so i say yeah, go for it. there is no better time than now.

Lol. I think it will die out even faster. TC. Before it gets anyways worse, I would sell it and buy an arcade version. I dont think prices will be dropping. At least not any time soon. Probably not even this year.

i think they will drop alot this year. to clear stock. i think they will make a new bundle with natal in it that has 120 gig hd for about 250. kill off the arcade it put the current elite bundle at 199. or maybe make it 250 gig elite at 250. then make the natal bundle 199

the arcade was down to $129.99 canadian a few weeks ago at all major retailers (future shop, best buy, wal mart, gamestop) with 20gb refurbs at $99.99. a price drop seems inevitable in the near future.
