I am. I love Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 (probably one of my fave PS3 games, well exclusive anyway, along with Valkyria Chronicles). But MGS4 and Valkyria Chronicles are essentially the only PS3 games I can see me buying, unless one I like does not already come to 360... lol... I love the Xbox 360 personally and even though by definition Rising might be a spinoff (cause it does not star Snake)... that does not mean it will not be triple-A. I believe it will be (I have a PSPgo, so I will buy Peace Walker as well). Its also on PS3 but I would prefer to play it on 360, when it comes out Im getting it. Simple as that, and no I am not no hypocrite, because I played MGS4 before Rising was announced (surprisingly I knew there would be a Metal Gear announcement in the Microsoft E3 Conference). I would love to get The original trilogy of Metal Gear Solid for PS2 (and play it on PS3, also the PS3 to me besides being used for MGS4 and Valkyria, the 60GB model which is the best model, would be used as my own personal PS2 lol). I am excited as hell. So I am definitely getting it. How about you?

Yeah I guess. I have all three current gen systems, and I am a fan of the MGS series. I do prefer Xbox 360 over the other 2 so it is nice to see this game getting a release on my preferred console. On a side note though, I'm really not too sure what to expect from this game. It won't be a traditional MGS game from the looks of it, but I'm definitely going to check it out. But yeah man, I totally hear ya with MGS4 and Valkyria Chronicles being your favorite PS3 games, as those are my favorite PS3 titles as well!

MGS2 didn't star Snake and thats not a spin off, and MGS3 didn't star Solid Snake and thats not a spin off either. My only worry about this game is the whole term "Lighning Bolt Action" sounds like they may take the game into an action heavy thing instead of stealth based gameplay.

Plus if I go for a stealth action, it's gonna have to be Splinter Cell, co-op will be win. As far as I know, MGS is sort of weak with the multiplayer category.
I just think its pretty amazing how Microsoft keeps better all these previously exclusive titles like the FF series, Resident Evil, even Banjo Kazooie and now the Metal Gear series. The more the better.

Agreed. I have this creeping feeling that Conviction is just going to turn out to be truly amazing. I was completely skeptical of it at first, until it underwent the radical changes that it did. Now it's looking like it will be the best Splinter Cell since Chaos Theory, and that's not even taking the co-op into account.
On topic: I am not too psyched for Rising. It's not even really on my Top 10 list of games that I am excited about coming next year. There's just too many games in 2010, and like someone else mentioned Splinter Cell is more my style when it comes to stealth games anyway. It's all about the controls, and Sam Fisher could totally kick Solid Snake's and that girly-man Raiden's asses!
I really wanted to play as Raiden in MGS4. So this is a win for me. I haven't bought a game in a while so I might have to buy this. I think I would rather get it on the PS3 because MGS games never felt right on the XBOX.
honestly I don't really care as I'm not a big metal gear fan. It's something I'll more than likely rent, play for 10 minutes and then decide it's not for me. I can hold out hope that I'll end up liking it but I doubt it.
I'm not thrilled by it but whatever. MGS4 was a great game that couldn't have been accomplished on the 360 on the level that it was on the PS3. In the same way, MGS Rising could probably be better if it was a PS3 exclusive. And I don't like how so many games are becoming multiplatform these days. There's nothing wrong in principle with allowing a wider audience to play a certain game, but what's the point of having multiple consoles if they all have the same games? Exclusive titles tend to have less glitches, are more polished overall, etc. Exclusives also promote more competition, which makes games better. And I'm not just saying PS3 exclusives and being biased - 360 exclusives too. Though MS has stolen more exclusives from Sony than Sony has from MS. To further back up my point, even Kojima doesn't seem that thrilled about the game. He's concentrating on MGS Peace Walker, calling it his MGS5, and even talked in an interview about Rising in a very apathetic way shortly after it was announced. Just my thoughts, I'll still be getting Rising for sure... but probably on PS3.

I'm speaking about the whole entire series not only MGS4. MGS4's B&B unit wasn't too bad but it's true that the others had better enemies. I found MGS4 entertaining and a great leap compared to the others, graphic wise. MGS1 will always be my personal favorite though.
I can't wait for the new Metal Gear games, I played all of them except for Acid 2 and the GBC one (and the second NES one but the NES ones don't really count, it was nice to get the MSX version of 1 and 2 with MGS3). I actually just bought a PSP less than a week ago, there was starting to be a lot of games I want but I mostly bought it for Acid, Acid 2, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and Valkyria Chronicles 2.

They kind of already did that once MGS3 came out. Sure you could use stealth but it was no longer neccessary.
MGS4 is still a step ahead of halo and cod IMO. I do not think rising is going to be your typical MGS game though, I think it is going to be more of a action adventure game.

I agree with ya. It'll be hard to make it on the same level as MGS4 so they might change it up. Is there a release date planned for it yet?
