I never got into the series. I'm still going to buy a PS3 though, but only for LBP. That game look spectacular, and there's nothing at all like it on the 360. But before that, I have to buy a variety of other stuff that is more important, i.e. TV, Zune, Rock Band, laptop. PS3 comes after this multi-thousand dollar expenditure that I'm already planning.
Don't go to the PS3 boards or MGS4 boards and talk about it coming to 360.It's annyoing to wade through the topics to see every 5th topic to be about a port to 360. It's annoying so for thsoe who do that don't. Keep it on the 360 board only. Anyways I hope it does get portedeventually. The idea of achievments and MGS4 sounds good to me. Likewise I hope the HoME functionnallity is used well with MGS4. I want a giant Metal Gear in my HoME.
My thoughts on teh MGS series.-MGS 2 was a mess and i don't know why people loved it so much. Sure the game looked quite amazing for its time with amazing character models and nice water effects, but the story was to convulted for my liking and was only explained in the last 20minutes. most of the boss battles were lame, although the battle with fortune and vamp was pretty good. snake easter was great. it introduced a lot of new mechanics that worked well and the story wasn't as stupid that time around. I vaguely remember 1. It was long ago. The only memory i have is of a dog peeing on my cardboard box and the battle with the guy who requried me to switch my controller ports.
Hrm. I'll never understand the hype for Metal Gear, I own all 3 of the current gen consoles and im hyping Little Big Planet more then I am MGS4.cleotis_max

Its funny i'm still reading comment that the PS3 needs to prove that it is a good game system. It is... and it far superior to anything on the market (I'm a 360 owner who plays other people'sPS3's alot... I'm jealous). No MGS is NOT the only game that the PS3 has in 2008. Gran Turismo 5 is a system seller too... and God of War... and Killzone 2.... and HAZE.
Do you people realize that Devil May Cry 4, GTA4, and Assasins Creed were supposed to be PS3 exclusives (but the head of Playstation is a stupid old man and delayed the deals till MS swooped in)? Yea, I know, I'm beginning to sound like a Sony fanboy.... but that's because I will be jumping the bandwagon soon.
And no, I won't be satisfied with Splinter Cell...MGS is the Maserati of Stealth.

strange Im in the same boat as you. Im also a 360 owner that plays on a ps3 on a regular basis. but Im definetly not jealous. maybe I will be in the future, but now Im happy with the choice Ive made on 360 launchday. maybe thats just me.

Yeah, it looks far more promising then most games coming out next year, chances are I won't pick up MGS4, it'll probably just end up being another Halo3, all hype.

If MGS4 does to the 360, then the PS3 will get Halo 3, GeOW, Mass Effect and Saints Row 2 will be exclusive, and Sony will pay R*1 billion dollars for their own DLC which will kill that the 360 gets. See a pattern here? They're not going to happen, therefore MGS 4 to the 360 won't either.

The Metal Gear Solid Series is an acquired taste and always has been. It's G.I. Joe meets James Bond with some perpetually clunky controls. I'll eventually get a PS3 for God of War 3 and MGS4 but i won't pay anything near $400 for one when my Xbox 360already gets most of the good games that are released on PS3.

Only DMC4 was going to be PS3 exclusive but they got their new engine up and running ahead of schedule. The new engine is designed around multiplatform dev, so they had time to add on the 360.

Same here. Played the second MGS first, and absolutely hated Raiden. Then I played MGS:TS on the GC thinking I would enjoy it more with Solid Snake as the main character throughout. Didn't enjoy it much either, though I did manage to stick out the whole campaign. I prefer my stealth games of the Thief/Splinter Cell variety.
I don't expect the game to ever show up on the 360 unless sales on the PS3 were so poor that it went multi-platform to recoup the costs. Sony needs needs a system seller bad, though.
i'd rather play sequences as otacon than raiden. he just looked like a sissy from head to toe. and the fact that the game actually made references to him looking feminine didn't help to make it any easier to accept him as the main character. Kojima actually went so far as to show a character in MGS3 that looked like raiden from MGS2 and hint at the fact that he had a less than straight sexual orientation. MGS1 is by far the high point of the MGS series so far. This next one better start making some freaking sense like that one did or i'm swearing off the series forever. MGS2 and 3 had ridiculous 1,000,000 monkeys at 1,000,000 typewriters kinds of stories that barely made any sense.
what the hell do you want MGS for?, those games are horrid, if you can even consider that movie fest to be "gameing", the only ps3 game id want is GoW3, buti have a ps3 anyway so meh

also to the topic at hand, i highly doubt that it will come, although it would be alot more successful due to a larger userbase than the PS3. but i could understand that kojima would want it to end with the company it became famous on. (idk if it was famous back in the metal gear days)
Sam Fisher sucks compared to Solid Snake. He has nothing on the hilarity of hiding inside a cardboard box. Obviously they don't have Psycho Mantis to read your "mind" (or your memory card :) ).
It's moments like that - the little things. The boss with the End, the unique design of characters, using porn to distract guards. How the hell does that fit into Splinter Cell? It doesn't, which is why the quirky and unique stealth games from Kojima will always remain the best.
The PS3 had its own exclusives and so does the 360. The 360 has Bioshock, Halo, Gears Of War, Mass Effect, Ninja Gaiden etc. The PS3 has Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, Lair, Haze, Killzone, Metal Gear Solid etc. All of these are good games but if you guys are going are rant about wanting a PS3 exclusive on the 360 then its just as plausible that the PS3 might get a 360 game (we already got Condemned 2). It works both ways. If neither console had any big exclusives then they'd basically be the same system. There would be no variety.
Not going to happen, since one of the reasons that Konami is using to *cough* embrace BluRay *cough* is being able to have uncompressed audio samples for EVERYthing in-game. Sure, the main game could be the same if they'd later put it on a dual-layer DVD for the 360, but having to recompress all that would be very time-consuming, particularly with the testing/"re-hearing" of all those assets to make sure they still sound right. Long story short: not going to happen unless Microsoft can put a seriously good offer under the table for them.
Im suprised resident evil 5 is coming to the 360, let alone MGS4.

Only a bastardized port of MGS2, which is of course why it didn't sell so well. Why start first impressions with the lousy sequel everyone hated, and further made it so laggy and unplayable? Makes no sense whatsoever.

That's an exaggeration. Also, if all the music, voice overs, and other things were compressed, it'd fit on two DVDs easily. They are just finding ways to fill up the Blu-Ray disc by removing all audio compression and texture compression though there is no visual or audible difference.
I'd love it, if it happened... But the DVD is too small for Hideo Kojima :P... I guess I'll just have to buy a ps3 when it gets a reasonable price-drop...
You cant put it on the 360. I would love it to but it is impossible. PS3 uses blu ray which makes it impossible for the xbox 360 disc to contain the much space one the disc. They said there uses the whole memory of the blu ray which means you would need to have the game on more then one disc for the 360. Not to mention PS3 uses a cell broad band engine which is way more advanced then the 360 engine.
