I have heard good and bad things about the XBOX360, and i was curious as to how many of you have had a 360 that has broken, and how long it takes to replace if it does. I want to buy one but I am hesitant because of all the failures, also is there more of a chance that a premium system will break rather then the elite?

It takes about a month to get your 360 back after the day you call them. Anything wiht the newer chips should be fine. Personally i would either buy my console at a costco because of their long warranties, or wait until this summer when the newer model 360's come out.

Haven't been hearing to many failures lately. I'd say you should be good to go if you buy one now. I don't think one system has a higher chance of failure than the other, but i'd go with the elite if I where you. It's black, you get hdmi, and the hard drive is 120gb, 6 times larger than the premium.

  1. First you talk to a answering machine for 5 minutes before getting transferred to a rep.
  2. Then once you get a rep, they speak horrible English because they're in Saudia Arabia. (English is their second language and they can barely speak it.)
  3. After 30 minutes on the phone they finally understand that u have xbox problems and u need a new console.
  4. You wait a week for a shipping box
  5. Ship it out
  6. wait another 2 - 3 weeks for a replacement console

Durka durka Xbox Support how can I help you?

well i m in canada, in ontario, it takes a week here. it gets to MS in less then 2 days, and is shipped back to you in less then 2 days. the only thing that makes the wait longer is the weekends, because nothing is shipped. my friend sent his xbox for repairs on monday got it back on friday. if you live in ontario, the 360 are shipped around toronto, like Vaughan, York, etc

oh and also, no repairs are done in canada, if you send your 360 for repair, you get a repaired one or a brand new one, which rarely happens.

thanks guys, i might go with the elite because the hdmi seperately is just as much as the elite package, im thinking of getting a part-time job at gamestop too, so im sure i'll get some discount, and i'll probably pick up the ability to refurbish them, i can even make a profit off my friends if theirs break

Hell yea. they dont speak no good ENglish at all. i told the lady that my 360 was givin me the rings and she told me to go through the diagonstics. i told her i am computer literate and i went through all the steps b4 i called and she told me to go to memory and press XXLRXX and the system was gon fix itself. She said turn it off and on and see if it was gon work. SO i did and it worked but i told her it was gon get the red light rings again in like 5 minutes. THIS HEFFA GON MARK MY PROBLEM DOWN IN THE SYSTEM AS RESOLVED!!!! Im like i just told u its fina mess up again so just schedule a repair, she didnt even care, i told her my issue wasnt resolved. Then she told me if i get the red lights to call back. SHe was so ingnorant, its a shame and a sin. Then in 5 minutes my system gave me the red lights again so i had to sit through that long answering machine again!!!! I WAS SOOOOO PISSED OFF AT HER!!!! I cant stand those people from Microsoft...it seems like no one from America works there. THe only thing good is that the repair place is like 3 hours away from where i live(In Texas) so it only takes me 1 week to get my system back after i ship it out:) IM on my third 360:(

Either it has to do with the time of day, your part of the country, or it says @hole on MS' caller ID screen when you call to get that kind of service. I've called in the morning, afternoon, and at night and have always gotten an american rep. who handled my situation with professionalism and efficiency.

let me give you a tip, if your 360 breaks don't bother calling them, just register your repair online. takes a smaller amount of time, and you don't have to deal with people in the far east. anyway, my 360 broke on january 10th, i requested a repair the 12th, and now my 360 is due back tomorrow (february 8th), according to FedEx. i live in WI btw. i would recommend getting your 360 from a place like best buy, because you can just buy their warranty, take it back if it breaks, and get a new one without having to deal with microsoft (as long as they have them in stock, i have their warranty and when i took mine back they were all sold out, after calling 10 other best buys they too were sold out. ****in christmas..)

If you get the red ring, and they walk you through steps to make it work tell them the lights are still red... then do the towel trick until the shipping box arrives so you can still play for those few days... then very quickly move to canada, get one week shipping and return, and then move back down to where ever you're from.

So far I've had my elite for half a year and not a signel problem to date... but it doesnt have the falcon chip so we'll see...

I'm fortunate enough that i've never had to deal with a RROD in the 2 years ive owned my xbox.. but i have helped my friend with his. we called up customer support, and it was a nightmare but eventually. he got his coffin and roughly a month later he got an xbox back.. it had some bruises on the side of the case :/ but it works fine, even now, that was almost a year ago. *knocks on wood*

Speaking of their customer support.. try and call to cancel a gold membership.. ITS WORSE.. you get someone who speaks broken english and trys to re-read u the EULA agreement saying you are charged for the next month of NON-USAGE when canceling a subscription.. dont even ask why because they can't explain it to you in a way thats comprehensible.. i tried to make it as simple as possible, "I DONT WANT GOLD ANYMORE, DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO IN ORDER MAKE MY ACCT SILVER"... yet there were still problems..they kept routing me to different lines, took 4 different call backs to finally get my case resolved... jesus christ microsoft.. sorry for the rant, i feel better tho :D

as long as you give the right information it should not take long.... i had my xbox360 fixed and returned to me in 8 days..... not bad at all.... and it has been working fine since( and that was last year). it helps when you have an account at the xbox360 website and your 360 is registered.... and if your address is in your profile..... it speeds things up

So you're looking for quantity over qualtity. Yes I understand.

You want everyone on the forum to post in here and give you the same answer becauser you completely ignore the information until you're overwhelmed by it.

Sounds pretty stupid.

I have nothing but good things to say about MS CS. I'm also living in Canada and am on my 4th 360. I got a new console back within 10 days every time. I've had overly helpfull reps every time I've called and only once had a problem understanding them. Probably half my fault by calling on a cell. In fact teh last time I called to have mine fixed, they transfered me to a special rep to make sure I received a new 360 with the new chipset in it to make sure it wouldn't break this time. My last 360 broke over xmas, and they sent me a coffin THE NEXT DAY to make sure I could get mine back by xmas.

OH MY GOD! Are you spying on me? cause EXACTLY what you wrote happen to me the other day, and it wasn't even a broken system, I was essentially calling to ask "Have there been problems with Live in the last few days." (cause we all know that litter banner that says "Up and Running" is a sinning lying disgusting beast.)

I then called my DSL supplier, and the above happened X10.......Thank god I was able to get into CoD4 online that night, and sorry to those of you who played against me said night.
