I agree a Rare game makes the most sense especially since we haven't heard from them in a while. I mean they have be working on something personally I hope its a new Perfect Dark.
I know some inside sources, they say it's Peter Jackson's Halo project, code named Halo Chronicles. You heard it here first, I've got connections!!!

Oh god no, I thought that game was on hold. If that game gets announced, I'll throw a fit, I find it absurd to announce 2 Halo games in one year, or in this case, 2 months. Plus, that game was already confirmed to be developed back in 2007, I wouldn't exactly call it new.

It's at ComicCon that they're announcing this, maybe XBox/PC Exclusive Marvel Universe Online? Game was scrapped and the developer moved on to Champions Online and Marvel got picked up by another developer. Maybe they picked it up as an exclusive.

This would be awesome but it's Microsoft announcing it so it won't be something that's multi-plat. Elder Scroll V will most definitely be on PS3, 360 and probably PC too
I bet it's MechWarrior. Microsoft would only do an announcement like this for a game they develop and/or publish and is exclusive to the Xbox 360. The game was announced in early July, but lacked a publisher and I bet Microsoft will gladly take it for a game that is only planned on coming out for the Xbox 360 and PC to begin with.
Anyone saying random big name games or huge develepors aren't thinking clearly. They're trying to hype something up and so it's going to be something that nobody cares about. If it was a game people actually would go crazy over; like a new gears or halo or perfect dark then they'd have just announced it and let the fans hype it up themselves. Then after it was nearing release they'd begin to put out a bunch of merchandise. You're all going to just be giving your hopes up thinking it's something giantic or special.

Remember Microsoft's announcement about showing off an "exciting unannounced project" at Comic-Con on July 23rd? How the attendees would get a look at a "new, exciting unannounced project from one of our top franchises"? The funny thing is that each of the games being showcased - Halo 3: ODST, Left4Dead2, Alan Wake, Shadow Complex, etc. - all put in an appearance at E3 2009. The only Microsoft developer missing oh so conspicuously? Rare. Which would make indicators of this "unannounced project" belonging to the Rare stable even stronger. But that's not all.
Gavin Price, Principal Designer at Rare Ltd./Microsoft Game Studios, is working on an "as yet unannounced project" from January 2009 till now.
I really don't want to see an XBLA port honestly. I'd love to see something new from Rare, maybe even a new IP or a rejuvination of an older one. Honestly, some of their older stuff just doesn't seem like it would translate well to XBox, so I'd like to see them do something new and really fun along the lines of a normal Rare game but with an atmosphere that screams XBox 360, not N64

I'm not sure Conker would translate well. I only played it a few times with friends but I had fun with it. I'm just curious if that would be high on people's list (thinking about gamers today, not including those who have a nostalgic tie)

And you could be right about your second point.
