ummm, are we talking about modems? or routers... if you mean routers, here's the link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/homenetworking/equipment.htm there are a lot of unlisted routers, however, so sometimes it is a guessing game. i bought a cheap one from future shop (it's a trendnet wireless, TEW-432BRP), and it works great.

Step 1: Call Microsoft

Step 2: Ask them what modems do not work well with Live

Step 3: Pick one of the ones they don't name.

Honestly, why wasn't that the first thing you did?

I have a router, but it is a long way from my xbox. As for calling Microsoft, I'm not talking about which one work well with Xbox Live. The type of modem has little to nothing to do with having xbox live work. I'm talking cheap/ reasonably cheap modems that are effective for xbox live.

The company the provides the service should provide the modem. And modems either work or they don't period.

I figure that all ISPs have somewhat specific configuration of their devices, so I'm not sure how smooth would that idea of yours be implemented. If that router that you have is wireless, it may be easier to get one of those wireless bridges and just plug it into your Xbox:

This is just an example, I'm sure there's plenty of models around.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, but the modem that I want doesn't even have to be specifically made for xbox 360. What retail stores sell modems? Walmart only sells modems.

sorry, but i really think you have no idea what you're talking about. All a router does is give you an internet connection, and as far as i know, any and all modems will work for xbox live. the question is a pointless one, and why buy a second modem? if you really want to connect your xbox, but you have a modem somewhere in your house, you need a router, not another modem.
