MODERN WARFARE with NO Cover System?????

I have the Call of Duty 4 BETA - It's a great game.

But COME ON Modern Warfare tactics with no cover system?? I mean World War 1 and 2 run and gun sure but surely modern battles and tactics deserve a cover system like Vegas or Gears.

As far as I can see that's the only thing holding this game back from being really great.

From what I have played in the BETA people are already camping big time! I'm looking at you sniper rifle guys!! Plus you can lay down flat in the long grass and not been seen, so forget camping you can already almost lay down and go to sleep in this game already.

Yeah that's one thing I didn't like about the demo is that you can't take proper cover, I'm so used to Vegas but the COD series has never been about taking your time on missions and on mulitplayer. It's more face pased and run and gun style I guessScarface_tm431

lol do you run n gun with a sniper? snipers are supposed to camp. of course only noobs stay in the same place for too long because you wont last long if you do since everyone you kill can see where you are on the killcam. if you keep getting sniped by the same person in the same place you need to learn how to kill him before he sees you or just aviod the area where he can see you. some simple strategies can earn you a lot more kills and a lot less deaths than simply running around and shooting everyone you see.INF1DEL

Now lets not jump to conclusions here, thats not the full game's multiplayer, who knows they could add alot of new features just compare halo 3 now to the beta a couple of months ago.

highly disagree.. i basically run and gun (i use a bit more tactics than just run and gun though, but i definatly don't camp.. i'm all over the map) and i usually end up top 3.

they cover system is possibility. but my biggest problem is that someone can die faster by being shot anywhere except the head compared to someone who is actually shot in the face. haha me and my friend tested it out same weapons and same distance

It's so fast paced that organized cover would be really out of place. Besides, if you have played shooters at all through your life, you know to just duck behind a tree stump or a big rock.joey101010

Its kinda hard to tell if your actually behind the tree stump in a first person shooter sometimes I watch the replay video after I get snipped and it turns out I was a sitting duck when I thought I was protected

A cover system won't help you be any better and it's just not needed. If anything it would ruin the COD experience. Which is run and gun action.EndersAres

that seems to be something that people just don't understand. The series has NEVER had a cover system because then the gameplay would be completely different. If you want a game with a cover system go play Rainbow Six Vegas or Gears of War (both IMHO suck compared to the CoD series btw).

No, no, no, no, no......The pace of the CoD series is a faster more intense game compared to the camping bore fest of Rainbow Six....CoD4 is meant to be an intense fast action game people. Maybe you should actually play more games in the series before you cry out for something that it's NEVER had.

cod2 mp did not suck and nor did 4, 3 is a diff story.

plus if you want realism go run around with your friend shooting real guns. Why would you want realism in evergame? that makes no sense

lastly WW2 was not run and gun. if youv ever seen real combat footage youd see that combat was much slower than in the game.

obvisuly they would institute it becuase the ai would be advanced. try playing rb6 vegas without using it.

i dont like how it goes into 3rd person on vegas. you can see around the corner without endangering yourself. sure, you can be shot through the wall, but not if no one knows youre there. also this is meant to be a fast paced game and a cover system would only encourage camping.INF1DEL
