Hi guys. Yesterday, I received a refurbished 360 after sending back my dead 360. As soon as I take the console out of the box, I notice something is loose within it (first bad thing). Then I set it up again vertically (I like it better that way), and as soon as I try to open the disk tray, it gets stuck and doesn't come out. I had to set the 360 horizontally and then it will open. After playing a bit, I notice the disk tray got stuck again. This happened like 4 or 5 times in a 4 hours interval. I don't like this, so I want to ask for a replacement to it. Since I bought my 360 less than a year ago, it is supposed I still have full warranty for any kind of failure. So do you think they will agree on replacing it?

If you explain to them that the one they sent you still has problems, I'm pretty sure that they'd replace it again if you asked them to and wanted to wait.

Do not take No for an answer when dealing with them and get really angry with them. They owe you a new Xbox so go get em'.

Negative, don't be angry with them then they won't want to help you out. Anyone who's ever worked in any type of customer service can tell you this. I work at a video store, and when people complain about their late fees if they're calm with me and seem genuine and have a good excuse then I'll wave a couple fees once in a while but if they're complete asses about it and yell at me like it's my fault the movies weren't returned on time then I make sure that the fees don't get waved, and make a note on the account for other employees

I'll try to be calm with them, but I'm not taking a NO as an answer. In the warranty policy it is stated that they will repair every single malfunction. And, as I told you before, I'm still in my first year of warranty, so they should repair every issue.

I know what you mean. In fact, my current job is a Customer consultant in a call center so I know how to handle them. Thanks for the advise anyway.

Yep call em again and explain your situation. If something is lose inside and the drive gets stuck there's obviously something wrong with it.

That's not the point. I payed for a fully functional console, not a sometimes working one. So I'm not staying with this.

Okay I'm gonna put my evil taliban sig on just for this thread cause what I'm gonna say will be evil and probably frowned upon. If you explain what happened to Microsoft reps and they don't budge to fix the issue then I "heard" (never had to do it myself) that if you wrap your 360 in a blanket/towel for a few minutes then it should get the 3 red lights (need the 3 lights for the warrenty to kick in) then you pull a Houdini on Microsoft and you get yourself a new/refurb 360.

*Disclaimer I DO NOT ENCOURAGE SUCH ACTIONS, I"M JUST THE MESSENGER! Don't SUE ME M$ I DON"T HAVE ANY CASH

That'll be another option in case they refuse to change it at first hand.

Don't worry its a matter of luck. Keep asking for new xbox's untill you get one that works. I think 1/3 work fine so just keep changing till you get lucky. Btw how long did you have to wait for the new one to arrive?

if its under warranty than they should have to say yes, theres only a small chance that they won't. and the towel trick works to get rid of the 3 red lights for awhile. from what i've heard to, if you get 3 red lights, you wrap it in a towel, and some/alot of the time it makes your console work for just a while longer. like a week up to a month maybe.

about the disk tray though. when i got my 360 back last march from repairs i didnt have a problem with it until last winter or beginning of this year. then like the TC, my disk tray would get stuck when i tried to open it. it progressively got worse but its usually easy to open. you just hold the sides of the console, and with both ur thumbs kinda hit the tray, not hard but use some force. that usually gets it to pop open.

but anyway, when i just got the 3 red lights 2 weeks ago, i called MS, but to make this long story shorter i had to end up calling them again cause repair center is a bunch of morons i guess. but when i called again and told him about my red lights i told him that the disk tray is also fubar and i want them to fix that to. but i think he pretty much ignored that as he just said "yes" and some other short non-informative sentence. so i told him at least 2 more times to make sure the disk tray gets fixed but i didnt really get a "Yes, we'll make sure they will fix that," or "they will go ahead and fix that when their working on your console". but i didnt get a "No, we can only repair the 3 red light problem"

but when repair center called they only told me they were fixing the 3 red lights but i again told them about the disk tray. So as of now i have no idea if it will be fixed or not. I hope it is though, as someone said about how many times you switch disks. I'm usually back and forth between graw II and gears almost everyday (clan)

LOL sounds like you got my console, my disk tray would only open horizontally, but I sent it to MS because of the RRD.

okay, now you got it going. However, remember to take everything without to much anger.. think "if i get angry will it help me?" if you are in Newark airport and your flight is canned the answer is yes. but otherwise no.
