well i could only see them making Live cheaper, not free. Unless maybe they had a stripped down version where you couldn't message or wouldnt get achievements or anything, only play online. and yea im waiting for someone to add the standard "like teh PS3!" joke here.
but reducing the price wouldnt really be a suprise to get excited for. lets just wait and see what it is

dude... it's like $3 a month, how cheap do you want it?
I find people saying "it's only $4.00 month very illogical. There is a clear difference between paying a monthly fee for a service, and paying an overall annual fee for a service. Do cellular companies ask for a 400 dollar yearly service plan?
On the matter of Live going free is very unlikely. Microsoft loves money, they will not make Live free for their current generation console. Perhaps a price cut: which would be much appreciated on many accounts.
One thing no one has mentioned here on tehse forums is the possibility of this "huge MS surprise at e3" being about xbox live perhaps going free, to compete with PSN. Think it's possible?Cipher92
They don't need to compete with PSN, people are still buying their product

Think it's possible?Cipher92With all the server problems Microsoft has been having due to the flood of people playing online games, do you really think they will be able to handle the influx of new online users? They won't, just because they're Microsoft doesn't mean they have all there ^&%^ together. And plus the last thing we need is MORE pimple face little kids being obnoxious on Xbox Live. So now that I think about it, I'm happy it's not free!

Think it's possible?Cipher92the reason no one has mentioned it is because its not happening. i dont mind paying for free. not had any bother etc for xmas when it was overloaded - which was down to everyone being at home and off work cainging they new xboxes, when they upgraded they network and everyone went back to work everything was back to normal now if it was free then they would be loads of extra people coming on. would it be like xmas? id rather pay then have it go back to how it was for them 2 weeks. but the reason u havent heard anything is becuase its not happening. if they were going to make it free they would of done it at the start of the consoles life. not halfway thru. becuase they would be all sorts of issues with people having full years of paid memebership that would want refunding or compensating via ms points downloads. and everyones already prooved that they will pay for it etc off ms, why would they make it free. they are already competeing very effectivly against sony. thats why sony have to offer it for free because they tryin to catch up with xbox not the other way around

read back on my post. did i say anywhere that I had a problem with it? no i dont, $50 a year is fine. But it could be cheaper. and especially with psn (no matter how bad everyone thinks it is it really isnt) they might want to make it cheaper b/c of it.
but i don't think its what MS's secret is anyway.
Its cheap enough as is. Just over 4 bucks a month to play any game you want online. When considering MMO games on PC their users are paying $15 a month just for one game. For what we get yeah its pretty cheap. We could get a bit more like actual servers so we didn't have to deal with hosting issues but what ever it still works untill everyone decides to get on at one time like at christmas and when CoD4 maps are released than it shuts down.Ket87
Well, actually if you play MMO's on 360 you pay MS $70.00 a year (CDN which is BS cuz our money is on par with USD) and you also pay over and above for the MMO - so you're paying the fifteen/twenty a month for that one game, plus paying MS for the demos & gamer pics which are free on PC/PS3 and don't give me the "way better service" BS cuz I game on PC, PS3 and 360 & while I do like the setup of Live once you actually play a game online it has as much (if not more) lag than PC or PS3 due to the lack of dedicated servers - which BTW is the one thing that could justify having to pay for the service.
