Hi all,

I am looking for a 42" TV. But in the description it says resolution 1024x768. Initially I want it for my xbox 360 which I will connect to it via VGA cable, so will I get a proper 720p picture?

720p= 1024*768 and 1280*768. But look out if its a plasma and the screen is a 16:9 then the picture will be stretched but if its a lcd then you will have no problems..

That resolution is 4:3 aspect ratio, not widescreen. I wouldn't get that TV. Actually, I'm gonna go ahead and tell you not to get that TV. If you are willing to spend the money on a 42" TV, definitely get a widescreen HDTV. Most new widescreen LCD HDTV's have a resolution of 1366x768, as opposed to the traditional 1280x720 (720p). You can use the VGA cable to achieve the higher 1366x768 resolution.

If I were you I would just use the component cable.  It sounds like the plamsa just has a VGA port for hooking up a basic computer.
