I doesn't pull a random shutdown when it gets red ringed. You have a different problem. Did you check the controller, power cord, and tv cables? these and many other things can cause red lights, called Fake-out red rings. :D Be glad! your xbox is probably still in working condition.

And you can still turn it on while it's red ringed.

It can't "red ring" there are no red lights. That's what they said. It can still have the same problem.

Technicaly it can't, because M$ said that the console automaticaly RDODs (Red Dot of Death?) before heat can do any real damage to the console. So if you see a blinking red light in the centre of the power button that means that it RDODed so just leave it there You can't turn it on or anything until the light turns off.

From what I understand the new models turn themselves off before they red ring so RROD won't happen. The most likely cause is that the console is over-heating and once it's cooled down you should be able to play again.

First things first: Where did you place your 360? In a stuffy part of your home entertainment place? That is wrong. Second: In what position is it in? Standing or lying down? If it is lying down, good job. If it is standing.. didn't anyone tell you that making it stand is bad? Third: How often do you or your maids/helpers/etc. (well, that is my case) clean? Dust is evil, not only to the 360 mind you, but to everything electronic.
