Breath in. And breath out. Doesn't that feel better?

There is no reason to get carried away by this updated 360 (codenamed Elite). This happens all the time, especially in the world of technology. There is obviously a demand from us consumers for this product and Microsoft is listening and giving us what we want. That sounds like good consumer loyalty to me. They are simply making the hardware more reliable and easier to manufacture. But to fully understand the concept of upgrading, let us look at the definition itself:

Taken from www.dictionary.com

1.an incline going up in the direction of movement.
2.an increase or improvement.
3.a new version, improved model, etc.
4.an increase or improvement in one's service, accommodations, privileges, or the like.
5.something, as a piece of equipment, that serves to improve or enhance.

Well, I don't know about you, but I see the word improvement a lot. I consider that to be a good thing. But wait! This is nothing new because we constantly make improvments everyday of our lives, so don't act like this concept is something new.

I bought my 360 for the games and as far as I can tell the "Elite" and my normal Xbox 360 both play the same games. Right now I don't need a bigger hard drive, but when and if I need one I'll be glad that a biiger one is out. So, for those of you who are saying "I hate this and Microsoft", I say shutup! You paid for a 360 and got exactly what you paid for.

Exactly the elite is more for attracting new customers or ones people who have been holding out. Early adopters and people who already own a 360 have been enjoying it and thats not who the elite is for.

So, you're telling me that if you had the choice, you still would have bought the original 360? Cuz I know for a fact, given the choice, I would have gone for the Elite, no questions asked. Why upgrade a system that 10 million people already have? You're gonna leave at least half those people mad for buying into it so fast.

I think most people are forgetting that this thing is completely optional. I don't know why people are bashing the hell out of it if you know other consoles have done it before and no one seemed to gripe about it.

Can I get an Amen?  Those are my thoughts almost exactly.  With the advent of 1080p and the burgeoning need for HDMI in order to output that resolution, what did people expect MS to do?  "Well, let's just sit that one out and really alienate the people with 1080p capable TVs."  If you don't want the thing, don't get it, but don't slam MS for adding tech that wasn't even finished during the development process of the console into their console later on.  No one would be slamming them if they released a redesign that included cooler-running chips and quieter fans, which once those become more cost effective and can be done without raising production costs, MS will do it.  All in all, people need to get their panties untwisted.  In the end it all boils down to money, and if MS can get more people to buy their console and games due to the addition of a new port, then there's more money in their seemingly bottomless pockets, which is their main goal anyway.

So how do you think Playstation 2 owners felt having a console for about 4 years and then slim-line version came out?

The only thing systems have done before was be reDESIGNED. Not UPGRADED. Of course this is still optional, but I would have rather had this option than the one I have now.

The only upgrade on the elite is the hdmi port. The 120gb hd can't be considered an upgrade since it's removable and will be sold separately for owners own the premium and core. Everything else is the same compared to the current 360s.

Same difference, I bet sony will also "re-design" the PS3 given a few years. Most companies will upgrade or redesign the console. I honestly don't know why this has people so upset.

I was just going to say that.

I owned an original PS2 and I was ok with the slimline one coming out cause there was nothing different about it was just smaller and cheaper.

I'm pretty sure the original 360's don't upscale DVD's, which the Elite does. That's an upgrade. The 120 gig harddrive is MUCH cheaper if bought with the system. HDMI support is definitely an upgrade.

The current 360s do upscale dvds through vga. Yeah I know the drive is cheaper when you buy it with the system but thats the same when you consider what comes with the premium. If you buy a core and give it everything that comes with the premium the price will be over $400.

Sorry, I meant to say it upgrades right out of the box.  That way you don't have to buy a new cable. I'm just really mad that I didn't have this choice when I got my 360. Given the choice or the knowledge of a newer system, I would have waited.

Why redesign a console that 80 million people owned?  Sony did that with the PS2 when they released the slimline model.  HDMI WASN'T COMPLETE WHEN THE ORIGINAL 360 WAS DESIGNED!!  Why are people so freaking upset?  If you want the thing so badly, sell your 360 to someone for close to retail, then go out and get the Elite.  I could understand if they added a built in HD-DVD drive, but all the same, HD-DVD wasn't really ready to roll when the 360 was being developed either.

Well, yea I'm completely with you on that. Given the option I would have gone for the Elite, but I'm not really upset that I already have one and would have to buy another. My friend's girlfriend is willing to buy my premium which is cool so I might or might not get the Elite. I'm probably going to wait until Microsoft comes up with a more concrete premium-to-elite data transfer than just the Datel Transfer kit.

You said redesign, I said upgrade. There really is a difference, even if you can't see that. I'm just upset I didn't have this choice for HDMI and the bigger harddrive for only 80 dollars more. The slimline just makes it easier to make being that the parts got smaller. The Elite is an upgrade. I mean, at least give us a discount on a bigger harddrive.

Well there was the integrated network adapter that came with it, and the inability to add the hard drive. Also there was a revision of the original larger PS2 that removed the iLink connection, added Progressive Scan for movie playback and an integrated IR module for the DVD remote. All companies do this.

Yes, if I had the choice I would still buy the premium 360 because it is cheaper and I don't have an HD-TV. But honestly, would you rather have Microsoft do nothing? You would still be playing the same games on your 360 with your HD-TV ad now that you have a choice, you are still complaining.

I'm not upset I own one either, I would just rather have the Upgraded Elite. I wouldn't mind buying the Elite if I knew it was easy to transer data AND I would be getting nearly all if not all my money back from the original 360. But that's a lot of hassle that could have been avoided if they would have said, "Hey, we got this thing called the Elite"

OBJECTION! ("PHOENIX WRIGHT ATTORNEY AT LAW")

The upcomming craze for the new xbox 360 elite, your money will be wasted on this version of the xbox 360... for it is only a stepping stone for a much more ideal 360 consol. the elite will be blown out by the version comming out in early 08 this version is set to couple with halo 3 providing better navigation and a new map building program installed into this new version which specs boggle even me.

-400 gigabyte HDD (THIS IS TO HOUSE ALL THE BIG HITTING HALO 3 MULTIPLAYER MAPS OF WHICH WILL BE AS LARGE AS 20GIGS)

-AND WILL ALSO BE HOUSING 65NM CHIPS OF WHICH WONT EVEN ARRIVE ON MARKET TILL NEXT MONTH.

-NOT SURE ABOUT THE WIFI THOUGH AS THIS HAS BEEN A PROMONENT QUESTION AMONG PEERS.

-EVERYTHING ELSE THAT COMES WITH THE ELITE IS ALSO AVAILABLE WITH THIS VERSION YET TO BE NAMED ANYTHING AT THE TIME.

Nothing is said on price or if there will be special editions of this version but it is slated to come out early 08.

DONDE ESTA

I personally disagree with the TC. If I ahd of known they would upgrade a year after release, I would have waited. The Elite is what it shoulda been from the beginning, now I feel OWNED by MS.
