my xbox has scratched the hell out of me fifa 09 disk and im beginning to notice heavy lag spikes in the game while playing a match. how do i avoid my xbox from scratching my disks? does it have anything to do from the way it is put? i have my xbox put vertically because i heard that's the best for not getting RROD.

Have you moved the 360 while the disk was playing? That usually causes scratches

Your 360 could be broken, it would be a good idea to put in a game you don't like or you don't play very much and try playing that and see if that disc gets scratched by your 360.

You can try calling Microsoft customer service, it's in the back of your game manual. I had to call Microsoft before and it sucks, my Gears of War disc exploded in my 360 and I didn't even move it one inch, just blew up. Anyways Microsoft will replace your disc for $20, yeah it's total b.s., I hate Microsoft. If your disc breaks in your 360 and you didn't move it then Microsoft should pay for it.. Anyways your 360 could be broken, check for your warranty and see if you're covered under the replacement plan.

Oh yeah and if you plan on calling Microsoft you may get stuck with someone who doesn't speak english very well, happened to me twice and it's very frustrating, everytime I had to wait 45 minutes - 1 hour while they said, "Let me speak to my manager." They want you to hang up they're not really speaking with their manager, anyways enough of my rant against Microsoft

*Check your 360 make sure it's working correctly
*Hopefully you're under the warranty
*Put another disc in and see if it gets scratched
*Try positioning your 360 on a flat surface
*If placed horizontally place it vertically and vice versa
*Make sure nothing is blocking the fan from ventalating air
*Make sure your disc is clean

You can try installing them on your 360.
