Not my favorite game but this year is

either Bioshock (but lacks a lot of replaying value)

Assasin's Creed

Blue Dragon , excellent old school style RPG (and one of the most epic final battle songs: "The Seal is Broken" )

NOTE: my favorite game, even if i quit for good lol, is Oblivion

COD4 and Halo 3 = another couple of FPS

havent played Orange Box or Half life series so i cant give proper opinion about them

As much as this hurts me to say, i would have to go with halo 3 :x First off, I really enjoyed the story. I felt it gave the conclusion that was needed for the game. I really respected what bungie did. To many games try to draw out the story to make it fell longer, but halo put you right where you needed where it all flowed and didn't add unessasary levels. The plot was great and they stuck with the overall gameplan. The levels were long and very rich in enviormental standpoints. I felt that bungi really saught out the core of this game and made it what it needed to be.

Second off, we all know halo has the some of the best multiplayer around, and yes some things can be a bot adjitating at time.(Ill get to that in a second). The game isn't freash, but they gave us just enough to come back and want some more. The graphics, while some will complain of them are nice for what they are. Look bungie doesn't want help, they like making their own graphics and have grown a lot since halo 2. The game is just fun and with new maps or DLC coming this week we have more reason then ever to play!

There are some things that really annoy me though, like the fact that punching someone with armor on takes down your hole shield:evil: that really makes know sense at all. I think that the levels are just a little to bland as well and that they didn't really ship[ enough with tha game. Some weapons also seem stupid. Spike grenades seem mirrored to the plasma and the bubble shiels seem out of place. Wha's the point of putting it down if they can walk right in?!

All in all it's a well rounded game and this is why it's my GoTY.

CoD 4 for me. The campaign wasn't what I loved, it was the multiplayer. I liked how you gain exp by just doing good, not by winning. I hate how whenever i do good in Halo 3, everyone on my team seems to be sucking.whichonespink73

This has been such a great year in gaming, with so many great titles that came out. But my game of the year would have to be The Orange Box, I mean there is just so much I don't know where to begin. Lets start with Half life 2, possibly one of the best shooters to be ever made the combining of action, driving, puzzle solving, I mean this game is just so great and not only do you get HL2 you get HL2 ep1 and HL2 ep2 wich continue the story and mix in some new gameplay stuf.

Then there is portal, quite possibly the most original and inventive game of the year, there has been nothing like it before probably the most fun I have had with a puzzle game ever. And to wrap the whole package up you get Team Fortress 2, a great multi-player game with lots of crazy action, with all the different classes and game-types.

So in the end The Orange box is my game of the year due to those reasons, in a year with so many great games this one had something special to make stand out from the rest.

I dunno tbh. I'm honestly kind of dissapointed with this year's showing. I had such high hopes for so many games, but in the end, none of them were as amazing as they were hyped up to be.

Bioshock had a great story, but it got repetitive, the world felt dull and uninteresting, and it was too hard to find all the audio recordings which made me feel like I missed chunks of the story. The combat was also rather unsatisfying when taken side by side with other shooters.

Halo 3-story was passable, nothing special, felt a little disjointed and hard to follow at times, gameplay was good but sp was kind of short, graphics were good but not anywhere near GoW or AC, etc.

Mass Effect-Plot took WAY too long to get interesting, complete lack of tutorials, uninteresting combat that got old after a while, large number of mediocre side quests, large number of mediocre main quests (vermire, the last planet, and the endgame were the most memorable parts for me, everything else was kind of meh), large number of recycled environments, large number of uninteresting worlds, and overall...it felt to me that instead of stretching ME into a trilogy, our friends at bioware could easily have fit it all into one 30-40 hour game.

Assassin's Creed-Great story, great graphics, repetitive gameplay, underemphasized, underdeveloped, and borderline broken stealth mechanics, everything leading up to assassination's was incredibly boring and only on rare occasions would you find out something that was actually worthwhile, some of the missions were timed which was a complete pain, etc.

I may pick up COD 4...within the next few days. Hopefully that game will live up to the hype.

Whoah, looks like someone just realized that they have a hidden knack for making everything look like britany spears(ugly and annoying)

I'm not doing it on purpose. Believe me, I really wanted all of these games to be as phenominal as the developers made them out to be. I was the first to be skeptical of the AC pirates when they called the game repetitve. I had complete and total confidence in Bioware that Mass Effect would blow my mind... And in the end...neither really cut it. I'm not saying any of the games I talked about were bad, not by any means. Just not nearly as good as I thought they would be. I don't like choosing GOTY by picking the game that dissapointed me least, I want to choose a game that completely surpassed my expectations and unfortunately, I can't do that at the moment.

Halo 3.

SP - Finished the fight. Great, immersive story and some particularly brilliant level designs. Shorter than I would have liked but I never expect perfection.
MP - Nothing I've played rivals it. It's my 'kind' of gameplay as opposed to 'one shot kill' MP games.
Extra's - Introduction of equipment mixed up the gameplay in both modes considerably, 4 player online co-op is godly and saved films with a screenshot tool is genious.

Assassins Creed-14+ Hour to the casual gamer with a excellent difficulty system to provide a challenge but will help gamers to get to the end. This title is often reduced to being a repetitive game, however I would say quite the opposite because this game has so many possible ways to complete your task. I personally have completed several assassinations dozens of times to find the best way to complete it. This game is only repetitive if you attempt to do a speed run.

Mass Effect-similar to Advent rising in some circles, but unique in it's own way with a fantastic storyline and magnificent character development and conversation system. Unforgetable characters and you fell like you are part of something. Only two things in this game were bad. The mako, and combat. Combat was unbelievably boring and felt more like a chore than a thrill. As a matter of fact, the only reason I like this game is because of the RPG elements.

Halo 3-Game that had the best dual wielding mechanics in history coolest shooting, most thrills, and the game has 4 player co-op! Multiplayer just made it that much better. Graphics have been drastically improved, and you'll be on your seat till the end with all the new weapons and vehicles.

My GOTY=Halo 3
