I need help deciding. LIVE has some really awesome features and I really liked 08. But I also loved NBA 2K8....and the movements and models are awesome. Which to pick?
I'm going with 2k9. Live isn't bad but it still feels way too arcadey for me, i like the 2k series cause it's more of a sim which is what i'm looking for. Little things in live i don't like either, i dont want to list them cause i'm too lazy to make a list but 2k is pretty much better in every way to me.
whoa NBA live 09 OF COURSE, this one has DNA tracking and Rewind where you can replay the real game from last night with the same DNA stats the players had, and NBA 09 will have like THOUSANDS of players playing each day ONLINE, if you watch NBA in real life youll know what is good to do in the game, if he swerves left a lot then you should swerve left a lot in the game because it will help you wayy better. I like Live, but I think I'm gonna stay with 2K at least one more year. If Live keeps making improvements like they have been, I may change next year. With that said, I don't blame anyone for picking Live instead. They both seem they'll be awesome.

hahahahahaha oh wow, yeh thats why i play games cause the sports stars play them, they definately know a lot more about games than the people on these forums. u seem a little young and ignorant so i shall inform u that for the past few years NBA live has paled in comparison to 2K, 2K has been the more realistic simulator for quite a few years now, and ironically enough NFL 2K5 even rivals madden 09, im amazed that madden still hasnt caught on with half time shows and better replays.

Live 08 was terrible! 09 seems improved but the controls were a little unresponsive, and the animations looked werid. The only good sig shot was Ray Allen's.

I downloaded the demo for Live 09 and I can tell you I am picking it up. The DNA stuff and Rewind are awesome and it's a great idea for sports games. I hope they put it in Madden and NHL next year. I will probably still pick up 2K9 but I'm for sure grabbing Live09 this year. FINALLY! It has been a few years since I actually wanted to buy Live!!!

So becuz lil bow wow and soulja boy play live and the title "sounds better", i'm supposed to put up with crappy gameplay. I think not. 2k is the best basketball game out right now, bar none.
NBA LIVE 09 demo was pretty disappointing. Maybe it's just me but I couldnt "hang" in the air after you jump which really takes the fun away when you do sweet fadeaways and hangtime for sweet layups. Some of the character models are way off too, like Kobe Bryant. He doesnt look like K. Bryant at all. I was not impressed, DNA tracker or not, I wont be buying it. NBA 2K9 all the way.
Besides, KG > Tony Parker (box art). I never liked Tony Parker. He seems snobbish to me.
The NBA LIVE demo was a big improvement over the last 8 horrible seasons from NBA LIVE. But in the end i want a realistic game and 2k alwasys delivers that. Although this year i might get both games, as it seems like EA is finally learning that we dont want DUNK FESTS all the game, we want realistic basketball that plays realistic defense, and not dunks everytime down the court.
2k has the soul and the feeling of a real bball game, maybe the players models are better in live, but watching them in motion in 2k make em more real, and also dont know, the demo of live 09 looked stiff to me
2K's developers to me seem like they actually care about the game and how it plays and i think that really shows in the game play. Live just seems like the developers throw together a game and add a few new features to get people to buy it. NBA Live 09 though is the first one in years that i can actually say i see a true difference in. With these new additions it seems like they are taking the sports world of gaming in the right direction, but is that enough?? Once you burn bridges with fans you might never get them back. Unless 2k is total garbage ( which i doubt ) Live 09 will most likely just be a rental for me, as i will be rolling with 2k like always.
im gonna go with 2k9..im a big graphic fan,..and i like games that imrpoved graphics since the previous game..2k9 has good features tihs year also..i was a live fan..am still..but just waiting for the time to go back to live..
2k has everything live has and more ... all except for the gimmick features.. but honestly who cares about DNA except noobs that need a edge... ima get 2k9 and play with the hornets every night(just like last year) whether they win by 10 or lose by 50... I might buy Live just to try it out(like I do every year and it has sucked the last few years) but from the demo alone its not better then NBA 2k8 so how is it gonna be better then 2k9 which has a revamped graphic engine and "gimmick" features which directly affect and better the gameplay and are way betterr then that of Live...
Live is getting better but it realy cant compare... the controls are still extremely loose... defense is terrible and thats human controlled and especially AI... they dont close holes in the lane... dont slide over fast enough to cover a uncovered man.. its just not polished at all.. they kno where the wanna go but just cant get there fast enough
I've been a Live fan ever except last year. 2k8 was really great and really realistic. I've played the demo for Live 09 and I don't think I could go back playing arcade b.ball again. So I'm looking forward to 2k9. But I'll rent both first before I go for the purchase.
