I've had my 360 since Nov 2006, after a few months I broke down and bought a Xbox live gold card for a year, and now my year is almost up....But my question is, If I drop back to Silver, do I still get to download roster updates for lets say NBA 2k8, or if there is any update on any game do I still get it?? Also can I still download demos?? These are about the only things I do on Live (yeah I know its sad) because I just cant get into online gaming......maybe cuz I am 29 goin on 30, and didnt grow up with the online gaming like some of you younger gamers did, or maybe I just suck and I'm too scared to get my arse beat, but for whatever reasons I ended up playing games online maybe 2-3 times total in a whole year.....So I have no problem going back to the FREE silver, I just want to make sure I still can download updates on games I own if there is an update, and that I can still download demos from time to time....thanks in advance for whoever takes the time to answer

if you have silver you have to wait a week before you can download new stuff from marketplace and theres no online gaming, but i think you can still play ea games online because its on there own servers.

but really you dont like online gaming? my dad even plays halo with me and my brother sometimes, and hes in his 50s.

nah man, I'm really not into it...I thought I would be, but when it comes to games I'm into my own thing......For example games like COD4 and Gears of War, I love playing the story mode because to me I'm playing for a purpose, which is to beat the game, and see how the story ends, kinda like a movie, except I'm playing in it.....When I play online, Its just trying to kill as many people as you can, over and over again, with no end to the story.....Also I am MAINLY a Sports Gamer, and I'm a stats junkie. I could play other people online and see how good I can get....but I rather play my Dynasty mode, or Franchise mode, and RUN my favorite team for years and build the best team I can through Free Agency, Trades, or in NCAA case, recruiting...I get more enjoyment out of that, then beating some guy online in a head to head

I don't think you can play online on any game without Gold, it all goes through the live servers at the start (EA games then just route themselves to EA's Servers.)

i was silver before i went gold, and you can still download demos, but you have to wait a bit longer than gold members. also you still get patches. and you can still pay for content.

but i dont think you can game online at all, no matter what publisher etc

i understand what you say about online gaming - im 26 and i have never been able to get into it. COD4 MP was ok, but i always find myself playing SP rather than MP. even RTS games i tend to play skirmishes against CPU rather than online.

it doesnt help that i have crap broadband, i tried to play R6V MP the other day and the other players kept asking me to kill myself because the lag was so bad! kinda ruins the experience when people ask you to hari kari

really?? I was under the impression that you CANT play multiplayer online without a gold membership, but as a silver you still can, for example, I can still play my brother who lives in another city a game on NBA 2k8 as a silver, but I just cant play multiplayer on COD4 or Raibow 6 Vegas 2 or whatever....I'll have to check it out

ok, according to what I just read on GameSpot xbox 360 tech center, the only differences between silver and gold are 1. 50 bucks, 2. exclusive marketplace content, and 3. Full multiplayer access...and thats it....However on Silver you do get MMO multiplayer access whatever that is....

And you have to pay a monthly subscription (like WoW) for them as well I think.
