never trusting hotmail again

i have a gmail email address (my main email address that i've had for about 4 or 5 years now) and a hotmail email address (only used this for xbox live and have had it for about a year) and from what i've experienced, gmail has better security than hotmail because both my hotmail account and my xbox live account were hacked and stolen. the person that hacked and stole them used my hotmail account for a money making scam and then he screwed up my xbox live account by deleting everything i had on there (even the gscore), changed the info and gamertag, and then used the account for his enjoyment. i've had my gmail account alot longer than my hotmail account and it hasn't been hacked once. i hope i can use my gmail account for my xbox live account (last i remember, xbox live didn't support gmail accounts) because i'm never trusting hotmail again

I doubt it was just hacked without you supplying some kind of information. Think about it, have you been to any points generators or put your XBL tag on any 3rd party sites? senses_fail_06

no, i've never been to or done anything like that. i didn't give any info out, he simply hacked my hotmail account and changed the password then stole my xbox live account

How do you know that exactly? I've used hotmail for almost a decade now...never any security breaches.senses_fail_06

i know because i get spam messages on my ps3 all the time about that sort of thing and i know when its spam so in this case, the points generater is something i know is spam and i don't go to

in a way it sucks more for the person that stole my account because i didn't have any left over points for spending and i didn't have any credit card info on the account so he spent some of his own money on changing the gamertag and stuff like that. come to think of it, the only info i had on the account was my first and last name (which of course isn't my full name) so if you think about it, he basically got nothing. but i'm not mad about the account stolen, i'm more mad at him hacking my email address in order to get a xbox live account that he ended up losing money with and then using that same email address that he hacked to do some sort of money making scam

As of last count in January 2012 Hotmail had more users than Gmail. Hotmail was at 369 million accounts (that was old data, but last reported.) Gmail was at 350 million.
