Hi guys

I jsut bought a new 360 Elite. I played GOW MP online for about 5 hours and got some graphical distortions like red, green andblue colours on screen

I turned it off then was fine. Does anyone have any idea what mighthave casued?

I am very nervous about this as my 2005 Pro just got the E74 message after white snow lines on the screen

Thanks

If it is brand new... take it and your reciept back to the store and exchange it... If it only happened the one time... I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again... at that point I would either exchange it or call Xbox Support...

But like I said... I wouldn't worry about it if it only happened once... Just like a computer getting a Blue Screen... it doesn't mean it is damaged... just an error... but similar to a computer getter a lot of blue screens... if your 360 gets a lot of these errors... there might be a problem...

even if something does happen its not a big deal because if you have a warranty, you can just exchange it for a new one and everything will be fine... i had my xbox for over 2 years and the RROD came (red ring of death) so this meant my xbox was finished and ruined, so all i did was send it to get it repaired, and it got repaired in 2-4 weeks, in cant remember, and the good side of it was FREE XBOX MEMBERSHIP 1 MONTH!!! :D, just becareful not to let it over-heat, and put it in a well ventilated area because that can help it alot.

its a bit like this but not quite as bad. It has the black box in the corner. It lasts for one round of MP in GOW2 then is fine in the next round. Has happened twice now. Gonna try componenet cables rather than HDMI but I should think that is it.

Any idea what this could be?

I am getting sick and tired of Microsoft. I have spent a fortune on their hardware and not to mention software. This is a supposedly new 360!OI have only had it for less thena day.I mean how can this get through Quality Control?

Its not good enough that I hjave to return it and get another one or that I should send it off to MSFT. I just spent $399 + taxes. It shouldF*&^$% work no questions asked.

Im sorry guys but it is so frustrating. All I want to do is play videogames.

My friend has had the same problems once and so have I, its nothing wrong with your console or your disc, its just a glitch in the game.

Hi ColdPizza

Thanks for your reassurance and its good to know that its not just me (even though I wish none of us had it)... :D

so you never got any hardware breakdown because of it? Does it happen in any other game for you? I am so frightened if I get another E74 message. I cant afford to keep on forking out hard earned money to keep my hobby alive.

When you say its a glitch inthe game why does it effect it that way I wonder. To me it looks like there is a problem with the GPU. It just pops up in the middle of a MP round and then goes away after the round finishes.

If you get problems with a new 360,most shops wont give you a straight exchange, but will refer you to Microsoft, saying it's not their problem as warranties/repairs are always dealt with by Microsoft.I bought my Elite 2-3 weks ago from Argos and it clearly stated on receipt-excluded from 30 day return cover.
