My Xbox 360 is a Pro, which I bought for Christmas at the end of 2008 (Sometime around the 25th... Obviously...) I was wondering if it was one of the newer models or older models. I recently read and article that was posted early 2009 which said that Microsoft was fixing the Xbox 360 to have less issues with overheating with some new technology or something. Is that true and if so does my Xbox 360 have a lower risk of overheating. Because recently I've been worried about red ring of deathing and so I take 20-30 minute breaks ever 1-2 hours or depending on how long it takes to cool down. My 1 year warranty ran out and I heard there's a 3 year warranty for Red Ring of Death but I don't think I have my receipt anyway D;

Jasper

Look at the back of the console, the # of amps used by the 12 volt rail is the key to determining which console it is

  • 14.2 amps equals a Falcon unit
  • 12.1 amps equals a Jasper unit

i hope that i helped you :)

Try installing your game first before you play it. This will also lower the risk of over heating.

No, that just stops the disc from spinning. The CPU and GPU still run at the same capacity and will generate the same amount of heat as if it were playing off the disc.

jaspers were installed in sept. 2008, so you should be all up to date, unless you picked an old one from the store :?

Please use the stickied broken 360 thread to discuss 360 models and their potential to break/overheat.
