New low power mode on 360 that shut down the fans!!!!
Tell everybody what do you think about this new feature, after playing day after day with the 3 red lights phantom around you.

well if you are simply downloading something and not playing a game the system isn't goin to heat up much at allibanezdropdI'm thinking the same.
You can only use this when downloading content.LTomlinson21
Then yeah, I will. It'll be silent when I'm sleeping.Â
[QUOTE="joey101010"]Doesn't sound too safe..xTheExploitedI agree. What is this anyway? Part of the new update?
its for downloading stuff
like say at night time u have your 360 on and start 6 downloads you put the system in low power mode (keeps power to the systems ethernet port) and your downloads will go and when the downloads are done the 360 shuts off the only way to know the system is in lower power mode besides if the fans are off the ring of light will blink telling you your downloads are still going

THE WHOLE POINT IS: that it is safer....im sure people out there leave their 360s on all night to DL stuff (retards that is), the nintendo wii has this....DURRRR.......anyway.....so does your computer, so its safe ..
The thing heats up anytime it's on. At idle, its like 120F, where you need a fan. I wouldn't mess with it.budorz
Yeah. I wouldn't and wont use it. I left my Wii on 24/7 Connect (meaning its on standby which is SUPPOSEDLY safe) and it got damaged because of overheating. You would think that since the companies design their products for something, no feature would cause it to break. Maybe I'm just wishing for too much from the product and companies that I bought from?
um guys... the only thing running during the low power mode is the network card and the harddrive.... it generates virtually no heat.GameArtGuyUmm not entirely true or accurate. Of course at least part of a CPU core has to be running fast enough to manage the file transfer, as do various chipsets in the system, and the RAM. And trust me HD's do generate heat. As for the low power state, if they shut down the extra CPU cores, lower the clock rate to enough to process required info for downloads, shut down the GPU, etc., you will get a major reduction in heat.

No the whole point is that it's quieter because the 360 is qute noisy with the fans running. I'm still not sure why MS decided to put this feature in because the system already has enough hardware problems as it is. This is just going to cause more problems.Â
Do people not realise that it turns off once the d/l is done?
It is only for DOWNLOADS.
I have low power mode on right now and the WHOLE console is off because I am not d/ling.
It is safe. Clearly most people in this thread have no idea how it works and are making blind comments.LTomlinson21
I dont have any idea how this feature works, i only read in the xbox site. TURN OFF THE FANS ( when you donwload or whatever).
I check the output temp. of the fans in the back with the console in the dashboard (45ºC). So i believe that this feature is not safe for my console turning off the fans.
And by the way, i dont know what kind of noise are you talking about, the only sound of my 360 is the music of the best console in the world running.
GUYS LISTEN HERE TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS. QUITE SIMPLE.
Everything is turned off except your connection to the internet and your harddrive. Their is nothing to be overheated, the only thing that will get remotely warm is your hd. Nothing is on but your internet access and the hd.
[QUOTE="Chloera"]WHY DONT MY FANS TURN OFF????Darklayk
my fan doesn't turn off either. which is odd. the xbox turns off and stops outputing a signal but the fans keep going.Â
Â
Maybe it will turn off after the system cools off... it is probably hot from playing games so it can't stop the fans right away.
