Just read on a website that the new xbox has wireless built in, does this mean you wont need any type of connection to get xbox live? asin the wireless built in acts as a wireless adapter. Greatful if someone could clear this up for me!! Thanks, Jonesy.

You don't have to have a wired connection assuming you have a wireless router, but you have less connection problems with a wired connection.

I never get good d/l speeds on the PS3 though. Their network is slow for some reason.

That has nothing to do with whether your setup is WIRED or WIRELESS. The PSN is just slow, period.

As far as speed no there usually isn't much difference anymore considering it is an "N" class router. On the other hand if the OP is living in a more densely populated area there is a higher chance of interference with the wireless connection, hence the reason most people stick with a wired connection anyway. Another tip to the OP make sure your network is private with a strong password so no-one is stealing your bandwidth while you are on XBL, this happened to a friend of mine who couldn't figure out why his connection kept lagging terribly.

the wireless dongle was never needed if you were using it with a laptop because you can just make a bridge, that's what I've been doing.

I have also been using a bridge, but I have it through my desktop which is also wired. Gigabit ethernet is still better than wireless N so I will use that until wireless 802.11ac and 802.11ad come out and are effective.

Thats just it too. Just downloading game updates for him can take minutes as opposed to the seconds it takes me and he has a better connection speed.

Agree on wireless and wired not having that noticeable of a difference. I think the quality of your router is more of what affects your internet speed than anything. I have a newer one and it runs great. Wireless is crap at my friends house because his wireless router is made of wood and runs on gasoline (joking).

Wireless G and N don't have connection issues unless your router is really far away.
