I was wondering if this option will be available for all games or just new ones that have the programming for it in the game? I also have a PS3 and it only installs certain games. Some have no initial install and strictly read off the disc.

Strictly speaking true, but there are have been reports 1 or 2 will not install. Crackdown for example will not install and I can confirm this after trying it myself
