My friend just left to Iraq and gave me his 360 to hold. I was wondering, with the news of the RRoD how do I prevent it. Right now I have it by the window in an open space so it can "breathe". What are other ways and attempts to save a 360? His looks to be 2 years old and has never had a problem. I just dont want problems to occur when im holding it.

Clean the dust around the window and around the 360. You already took the first right step which is keeping it ventilated and letting it breath..that's it everything should work flawlessy.

yup... QFT If your Xbox 360 is going to get a red ring, then those are the only things you can do. Mind you, even if you do those things, you still have a chance to red ring.

Just keep it in an open space and ventilated like you have been. If you have it vertical, get two little blocks of wood or something to rest your 360 on in the front and back of the bottom. That way the bottom vent is actually serving a purpose and cools the 360 better. If it's horizontal just do something similar. Raising it off the ground lets teh vents that are on the bottom to better cool the system

Spray it with a hose, if that isnt good enough hire someone to blow on it....or do what im doing and aim a fan next to it to blow the hot air away from it.

Never Move the 360 when playing a game .. it will ruin the game .. and will be unplayable

will have a nice big ring of scratches on this disk if itdose happin it would look like this...http://cache.consumerist.com/consumer/images/llama_xbox360scratch.jpg

Also do not ignore the power brick .. keep it in a well venilated area too.....

you can also get an intercooler, if you do get one, get the one that you stand your 360 on, I believe it is made by pelican and does not use the 360s power source to run, and not the one you clip on the back, there has been issues with the item melting on the the 360.

Just don't play with it cuz you never know what's gonna happen. Especially that it's the older version so you have to be careful.
