I generally don't buy a game for $60 unless someone wants to buy me a gift, I'll point out a new game. If every game was $30 instead of $60, or maybe even just $50, I'd probably buy it on release. I'll just hold out & continue accessing the 360 back catalog.
Hmmm, I have to disagree. While it's not a bad game, it's certainly not as good as NG on the xbox was when it was first released. The game just feels broken at times, it seems aimless. For starters, the storyline is appauling. I don't really care about stories in action games usually, but this is bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. While not the best story, the xbox NG at least made me look forward to the next point in the story, and the cutscenes were fantastic. As for the combat, it doesn't seem to know what it's doing at times. The game gives you 8 weapons (I think) with plenty of combos to try out, but you rarely get a chance to use them. If you DO use a combo, you risk leaving yourself open for attack, and considering the difficulty in the game, this isn't a good thing. There are rare occasions where you can experiment, but most of the time it's "block for 10 seconds then counter-attack or die!!!!". I'm not saying the combat's not fun, but it gets stale at times. Then we get to the dreaded camera. Personally, I didn't mind it too much. It was a bit too close to the ground for my liking, but it wasn't exactly something that ruined the game. The thing is, the camera seems to work against you during a boss fight. 1 boss fight in particular was quite hellish for me, due to the camra changing angles every second, and the screen shaking because of the movement of the 2 huge firey armadillos I was fighting. It completely ruined what should've been a fun and intense battle. However, overall, the camera isn't that bad. The level design is really bland. The only interesting levels are the first level, and the last few. Apart from that, there's nothing really outstanding. The graphics are ok. They're not a huge step up from the xbox NG, but they get the job done. The enemy design is terrible though, especially some of the bosses. The only boss I thought looked cool was the very last one. The rest are just your usual run-of-the-mill japanese action game fodder. All-in-all, Ninja Gaiden is a good game. Not a great one, and certainly not under-rated. It's exactly where it should be. This will not go down as one of the great action games of all time, nor does it deserve to. However, it is fun, despite the frustrating, and sometimes cheap, difficulty. What it does manage to achieve is replay value, looking effortlessly cool, and a challenge. However, if you're looking for the best action game on the 360, I can't help but reccomend Devil May Cry 4 over this.karriston
NG2 is better than DMC4 IMO
Yeh i enjoyed this game - i really like the duel wield katanas !!! i couldnt give a hoot over score, if i like it, ill buy it, play it and keep it.
Its the fun factor that matters.
[QUOTE="Dutch_Mix"][QUOTE="x-2tha-z"][QUOTE="Dutch_Mix"]Heavenly Sword and Lost Planet got 8's and Assassins Creed got 9. They're nowhere near as good as NG2. NG2 is underrated. FACT.[QUOTE="x-2tha-z"][QUOTE="grafkhun"]how is NG2 underrated with a score of 8.0 .x-2tha-z
No, that's your opinion. Stop trying to pass if off as fact..
No, you're wrong. It's a fact NG2 is better than Assassins Creed, Heavenly Sword and Lost Planet. People can have the opinion that one of them is better than NG2 if they want but they'd be WRONG.Yeah, no. In your eyes those people are wrong, but let's say in my eyes they're correct. What makes your opinion more valid than mine? See where I'm going with this?
Mine is right, yours is wrong.Oh, I see. Well, thanks for coming up with a well-rounded and thoroughly engaging reply.
the first ng is better than the second, u couldnt have made a better action game then the first ng. imo of course. i think all the ppl expecting ng2 to be better than ng are not respecting the original gaiden. that game is way above any other action games ive played (dont like god of war and dmc is good but mostly flash and its a bit easy).
i think that its a positive thing that its a great game but not the best. sure aliens was great but it wasnt as good as the first and this goes with almost all sequals of any kind (weather they be movie or game). it makes u appreciate how good number 1 was!
only complaint i have about ng2 is there are no movie clips like the first. those short little scenes in between gameplay were my fav part about the first one and all other things can be forgiven.
Agreed. Diffeculty should not be a reason to underrate this game, it depends on the player how good he is.
but u should complete the game b4 saying how good it is...IMO.

LOL, difficulty is always a problem. Try watching the NERD from gametrailers.com. You'll see some frustrating games that suck so bad just for being very hard in an unfair way. NG2 is good but many people want to see a good story plot besides good gameplay. Some characters suck you in the game but Ryu doesn't. So NG2 is a good game but IS NOT much of an improvement of its predecessor.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and I mean no offense to anyone who DOES think it's under-rated, but for me, DMC is a much better game. Heck, the Xbox NG is a much better game. There's just something missing from it, something that made the first one so much fun.karriston
Completely agreed with you dude.

I agree that NG1 is better, but in no way do I think ng2 is bad. and DMC doesn't comapre to NG series, NG is far better.
What i notice is missing in NG2 that makes it less good than 1, is the armlets, explosive arrows types, and rooms that you'd have to kill 100 guys for a lives of the 1000 gods, where as in ng2 the levels are more linear.
What i lvoed in NG1 was that you could revisit nearly every level (except the second level) in the game because htey were all intertwined. I'm not sure hwy they didn't keep that ocncept in the second one, but it's still really fun. Now on the other hand, NG2 improves on graphics, gore, and combos as well as finishers, and the nimpo's look kewler also. But I find it much easier with the health regeneration. Both = win, NG1 = better, ng2=underrated still.
I like NG2 more than DMC or any other action game out there, so I don't really care it's ratings are lower than any other game. It's the same that happened to DOA4, most of the Tekken and Virtua Fighter fans did not want to accept it was a great and deep fighting game... but who cares? In the end it's their loss.
Just play the games you like. Ratings and opinions will always be different for each and every person. When I first played Ninja Gaiden II also thought it was a bit unfair that glitchy and clumsy games as GTAIV could get perfect scores and NG2 couldn't. But it's nonsense to try to make people think the way you do, just enjoy the game, discussions like this won't change anything in the end.
I agree, NG2 is sooo underrated.
Beautiful graphics, unmatched gameplay and good level design. The monsters and the bosses are great to.

Agreed! I don't understand why the reviewers put the graphics down. I remember them saying..."It's basically Ninja Gaiden in High Def" . I mean hello!!!!! that's what it's suppose to be! I mean if your gonna review a game at-least review it for what it is and not what you want it to be.
Its good, but DMC4 is better imoxXl_IMoRTaL_lXx
I disagree! NG 2 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!8)

as for the difficulty, the fact that its so hard is why i want to buy it so much, difficult games are so much more satisfactory and exiting, it feels so awesome when you finally beat that impossible boss....but those rocket launching guys seems kind cheap...ReconKing
