there will always be people playing gears of war on live... heck there's still people playing PERFECT DARK ZERO on live - can you believe that (well that was before Tuesday, last time I checked)? but yea there will be less people now and ranked matches may take a lot longer to start up
No doubt that there will be less gamers playing GeOW but there will always be people playing that. Not everyone bought Halo 3 either because they are not a fan of the series or just can't afford it. But if the MP is good, then there will always be people online playing.
I was playing in a full room of Gears last night, but I think it was mainly because all the Halo haters wanted to play that game to prove they didn't care for Halo :roll: Given how much advertising/marketing/hype Halo3 had everyone(aside from people that honestly don't like the series)is going to want to play that game at some point so online will be pretty slow on Xbox Live for a while I'm guessing but it's not a problem for me. I just bought skate. and I still need to beat Bioshock on hard at least once. Plus GHIII comes out in less than a month anyway so all the Halo 3 obsession won't hinder my online experience as far as I can tell.

not quite true i was playing COD4 beta last nite with 11 other ppl in the room yeah I play the beta everyday, Im not goin to stop playing that. Actual retail games people stopped playing. I played Forza the other day and after I got Halo, I don't even feel like playing it for a while.
I don't think that Gears will get hit too hard. I mean it's as simple as this: some like gears, others like Halo, some will go with what's familiar, others enjoy something new. Basically, at first, Gears will take a hit, but once the Halo buzz simmers, fans of Gears will go back to Gears, awaiting the release of GOW 2.
Gears of War took a hit from me right when it came out because I never really got into the multiplayer. As for Halo3, its great no doubt but I wouldn't mind playin a few games of shadowrun alreaedy.
I think there should be no problem. I think people who both love Gears of War and Halo 3 will even out their playtime between games once they've done a fair bit.
At first i doubt much of anything else will get played over live except Halo 3. But give it a month and the ferver will settle down and things will level out again. But right now i check my friends list and 95% of my friends are on Halo 3 or at the dashboard loading Halo 3.

i don't play Gears for a long, long...time, i stop playing since i noticed how time wasting are the online achievements, and dont misjudge me GoW= 9/10 imo, campaign was a total blast i played trought it like 5 times :P i really look forward to GoW 2 but they should work out the multiplayer and those "time wasters" achievements.
Gears became dead to me when the online community became so RUDE! I cant play a game without being made fun of, no one works together as a team people are only worried about their score or achievements, so the only time i play gears is when i can get just my friends in a player match! The game is amazingly fun, just sucks because the online community ruins the game for me.
