I run a linux server and i'm trying to get music shared to my 360 from it, but it won't discover the service. Could someone tell me for sure if NXE won't see non microsoft services?

Actually not true .I have a Mac and stream my movies and music from I Tunes through my Xbox 360 to my surround system .I can also plug in my IPod via USB and listen to it as well. Check the web for stand alone apps for Linux streaming to Xbox 360. It's just like Peer to Peer Sharing .I also believe there is something for XP users who don't have Media Center as well.

I didn't realize that you could use a Mac with your 360.

Maybe I will get a Mac instead.

I'm using uShare, but i'm just having some problems getting my 360 to see the server. I can figure it out on my own, I Just wanted to see if MS made it so only MS programs could share media. That's good news for me that itunes on a Mac can do it.

See if TVersity runs on linux.

I can't do the sharing by default with my current pc, but thanks to TVersity, I can.

Also, there's Orb, but the quality of videos gets downgraded. Don't know about sound.

Why don't you just burn the music onto a CD, then download them onto your Xbox? That way you don't have to worry about "sharing" and all that other stuff.

You can download Windows Media Center for free on the Microsoft website if you're running Windows XP, and for your Mac, you can use Xbox Share.

What program do you use for this? Is it a good solution? I'd love to dump WMP for iTunes if I could. WMP sucks.
