PLEEEEEEEEEASE stop overreacting! A 9.0 is a great damn score! It's Editor's Choice for crying out loud! Just because the game didn't get a 9.5 or 10 DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE GOING TO LIKE THE GAME ANY LESS!
Look. GS has a great staff of video game editors who know what they are doing. Dont look at those other video game websites who just midlessly give a game a 10/10. They are rookies. They dont judge a game from every angle. Jeff had this game for about 4 days now and he probably put all the effort in the world to finaly give this game a proper review. Anyways, im still picking this game up tomorrow and i hope you guys enjoy :)
personally after reading his review i want it even more.. since i wont play long enough in a row to make the game freeze (if it really does or if it was just his system). The only thing that i dont like about the game andi agree with him is the whole dying thing.. The people you fight should go back to full health just to make the game a bit harder because that makes the game take absoultely no skill if you are determined to beat it because everytime you die you can come back right wher you left off..
Reading the complaints of the game I would've given it a 9.5. However, the score doesn't matter. Don't freak out about a 9 because a 9 is damn good. Read the review, see if you're interested, then either buy it, rent it, or find something else.
As dean said, I want to know if this game has freezing issues. If it does that sucks there's no excuse for that. Anyone who has played it did you have any issues?
I'm just going to rent it from Blockbuster, you can keep it for up to a month! Because of the no late fees thing. Besides, i just bought World of Warcraft.

If it's only on 'some consoles' then surely it's a hardware problem since they are all based on the same architecture. (Unless of course it freezes on 65nm 360 boards and not on 95nm ones - or vice versa).
I hardly think it's fair to blame the game for what sounds very much like a hardware hitch.
EDIT: That said people, a 9.0 is still pretty damngood! Even if the review seemed to highlight negatives rather than the positives.
Anyway I think people are making two much of this "9.8 average". Half of the sites collected are Xbox fansites or magazines, the others give generic reviews like 5/5. That doesn't tell you anything about a game. BioShock is right on the money AAA and people are still crying. Unbelievable.
Also, a freezing issue in a game can totally kill it for me. Something that big might be worth taking a whole point off. I hate even the most minor of framerate issues, so three second freezes might be totally gamebreaking. Don't know.
This single review doesn't affect the quality of the game. 9.0 is still a great score, not just the stratospheric 9.5 or 10.0 that some expected. Gamespot is traditionally tougher on games than most sites, so this is not surprising. It's also not going to stop me from picking up my CE tomorrow morning and enjoying it!
this game has been called the second coming by alot of people. and its supposed to rival OoT in greatness. i know this isnt sytemwars but this is a flop.Hadoken_Kid
Now i liked this game called bioshock But i was a little disappointed in-fact I gave the game 8.5 so i do completely agree with gamespot's review. But in all seriousness go buy the game you will enjoy it.
Everyone should have seen the whining coming ages ago, but oh well...there's nothing you can do. I'm personally pumped at the score. 9/10 is FAR from mediocre, and it's also editor's choice. Hmmm, what's that other game I own that has that same status....oh yeah, it's Gears Of War. :lol: I can already see that tomorrow is going to be one of those rare moments that reminds us, myself included, WHY we play video games. I can't wait :shock:

He didn't take off a whole point because of the freezing. He also said the combat isn't satisfying, the guns don't feel right, and that it's just too easy. Even if the freezing isn't BioShock's fault, it still has other issues.

It's .4 lower than the rest and it just looks like Jeff was nit-picking just a little too much to find faults with the game. I had a feeling that it's get lower than expected when Jeff previewed it on On The Spot wher ehe looked bored while playing which could be compared to how Gears of War was reviewed (all happy) vs zeldas 8.8 (not so smiley). I just don't see how Gears can be better than alot of games out there and only deserves about an 8 as it is over in a few hours and I've only been playing shortly and I just want to look at everything and take it all in but I guess if you have big dudes with chain-saw gun which i guess is more badass that setting people on fire then it will get a lower score. I've also never heard of these freezing problems but again stuff like that didn't hurt Oblivion a great deal and that game had lots and lots of moments like that.

Again, this is the lowest common demonator. You're always going to have someone who gives a lower score than everyone else. People are making too much of a big deal out of this. Nitpicking aside, a 9 is still a great score. If GS was on a 10 point scale, a 9 is still a 9. You know, there are other publications who rate games much more questionably than GS, like Play, for instance.
it must have been tough to have to HONESTLY review an amzing game like bioshock but who knows, mayb you will agree with jeff. 9 is good, and its jsut a review it doesnt mean its a bad game and it wont hurt anything.
