In the long run, going Prestige keeps the game fresher for you and you get to have a fancy medal next to your name in the lobby. However, losing everything you have played long and hard for is not as much fun as you think. Now in my case, all of my favorite guns were available right from the get go...(MP5, M249 SAW and AK47). But what I missed most were the perks like 3 Frags, Martydom and the P90.
Honestly, going Prestige doesnt signify a thing except that you play alot of CoD 4. It has ZERO reflection on skill and that is the fatal flaw in the whole Prestige mode!! So if I were you, I would just weigh the pros and cons for you and make your descision from there!!
I'd just stick with regular level 55, but then it takes me ages to go up ranks as I don't play that often.
Think about how long it took you to get the weapons you like to use most of the time and decide if you can be bothered battling through 20 or 30 levels again until you reach the stuff you have now.
Yeah mate,
You've gotta prestige. It stops the game getting boring and it gives you something to aim for
Go for it - it's no big deal - ok, so you loose all of your unlocked stuff, but you level up pretty quick and gain them back. I mainly use the M5 w/red dot, and the M5 is one of the 1st guns you start with anyway - 25 kills later - I have my red dot sight back.
This morning i played with a guy who just flipped his prestige and started the round at lvl 1 - at the end of the round (playing headqtrs), he was a lvl 5.

No way. I learned the hard way after prestiging 5 times that earning and unlocking the same stuff over and over is not really that enjoyable. I wish Infinite Ward hadn't been so lazy and made an enormous rank system with many unlockables that took a long time to finish instead of just forcing us to do everything again just for a new symbol. The funny thing is that people still thinks this obnoxious sytem constitutes a "deep" rank system.
Depends if you think you will still play it a lot.
I don't play it nearly as much as I used to, so just staying at level 55 and keeping all my weapons is better for me.
