Ok, so heres the deal, got assassin's creed for the birthday then started to play it and got quite far in it, then the xbox broke n i couldn't use it n it couldn't get fixed. I'm getting a new one for christmas and i was wondering how i could possibly get my previous game data on to the new hard drive. Is recovering the gamertag a possible solution? Thanks

yeah, you can recover a gamertag but that only goes so far as your avatar, achievements, and anything youve purchased (which it may download it - otherwise, youre always allowed to redownload anything youve bought on your gamertag). it doesnt transfer saves, which is what youre really looking for. there are two options: the first and more difficult but cheaper is to copying everything over using a memory card. thats what i did. you have to keep copying from one hdd onto the memory card, take it out, put new one in, then paste all the data onto the new hdd, then repeat until done. the second, easier, but more expensive by far is to get the data transfer packet/cable. what it does it transfer data from one hdd to the next. it only comes with the hdd when you buy it separately, not with a new xbox. you can try looking online or ebay but people have said its expensive. ive never looked so i cant say personally but those are your two options in a nutshell

Transfer Cable or Memory Card or your only options.

You could try calling xbox customer support. There's a chance that they'll send you the hard drive transfer kit.

yeah you can use a memory card, sadly you cant use the cheaper/more space 3rd party memory cards anymore since the new update, you can only use the xbox 360 ones that have less space and are more expansive...there is a lawsuit going down agaist ms about it actually
