Old HDD to a New 360

Is there anything special that I need to do to make it work? And also when you create a gamertag/profile, does it save on the HDD or the 360 itself?

I myself am wondering some of the same things as i am saving for a new Xbox 360. I do know that you can just recover your gamertag on live(if you have that account onlive), but ithink you have to do some special thing for the HDD to transfer saves, themes, and other things.

If you're just moving an old HDD to a new 360 you'll need to do the liscence transfer which is found here. Other than that there is nothing you have to do as far as I'm concerned. If you want to move your old content to a new HDD that came with your new 360 (if you didn't get the arcade bundle) then you'll need the free transfer kit here. It took me about a week to get it and it's free.

Now i'm planning to create a totally new gamertag, would the license transfer allow me to transfer dlc? Also when you create a gamertag/profile, does it save it on the HDD or the 360? Would the 360 run fine w/o a HDD or will it be brreak?

Nice.... it is a good thing I saw this... I just bought a new 360 this morning and when I got it, I was just planning on plugging my old HD into it... guess it is more complex than that...

Do you really need to re-download it all :(?

How do I do that? Do I just add all of my items to my que again and then hit download... but it just downloads the licenses?
