It's for accessories they haven't released yet, such as Guitar Hero-specific headpones that attach to the guitar so you can walk around with them more easily.
Right now there is no use for the jack. It may never get used or maybe they'll sell a wawa pedal or keyboard(who knows) for a really high price, to attach to it.
I've seen pictures of the inside of the guitar online and when you follow that jack cable to the circuit board its connected to, it says "pedal" right on the circuit board....so there ya go.
