Most likely I'm gonna nab a 360 today, and am trying to figure out a couple of games to get. I've thought of getting COD4, but heard that live is down. Thinking of getting Halo 3 because well, it's Halo 3. I'm tempted by Gears of War, and Mass Effect, but I can't decide on the games to get. Any helpful hints would be appreciated as well as any other game I could get instead.

MAss Effect is a great choice. Excellent RPG. Call of Duty 4's single player campaign is excellent, though very very brief. Oblivion is always worth a look. The Orange Box is a gift from God. The Darkness is decent and worht a look. Great story in that one. Call of Duty 2 and 3 , of course. they are both good games. PRey is decent and worth a look. Quake 4 is great, alteast on the PC. FEAR is great as well. GEars of War is good but I think it is a bit overrated. Still worth a pickup though.
I don't even think Gears had had a price drop yet. I mean its worth the bucks but come on its been a year. And yeah man go with Mass Effect. Its an unforgettable experience.
I would say get Mass Effect, it is a great game. The Orange Box is probably the best deal you will find in any video game, if I do say so myself. If you like RPGs, well JRPGs, you should look at Eternal Sonata or Enchanted Arms. Both are solid JRPGS. COD4 is a really great game for Multiplayer, as is Halo 3. Gears of War is fun for the most part, but i personally hardly ever played.
