i've been browsing the net and it appears that the xbox360 had overheating issues at launch. Is it still an issue even on new units (units manufactured mid 2006)? thanks
I've had mine since the beginning of April 2006. I've put a couple hundred hours into the system, including leaving it on overnight multiple times, and have had no problems whatsoever. A couple of friends who got their systems at launch have been through a couple consoles. But given my experience, I believe that the console's original problems have been effectively worked out.
So long as it's not on the carpet or closed in a cabinet while in use, overheating isn't an issue. The real question is "how do I decide which games to get?" At Best Buy, they're running a deal where if you buy a Premium 360, you get GRAW for free and a $20 gift card (hmmm...the play and charge kit is $20, coincidence?).
Some people have launch units with no problems, other people on their 3rd system...depends when ya got one and if your gonna buy new or used. I'd wait about a month before buying one....some stores still are selling their old ones to make room for the newer models....

The first game to get is Gears of war, then oblivion.. With those two games you will have atleast 100 hours of pure fun..
