I know I know...everytime the word Plasma is mentioned, someone says "they SUCK for gaming!" But is that still the case with the newer ones out today? WHY do they suck? What makes them horrible for gaming? (aside from screen burn...I don't typically make it a habit of letting my console stay on when i'm not using it and the tv's on anyway!)

I would go LCD...but I can get a sweet deal on a big plasma screen...and it's VERY tempting...but I don't want to regret it. I mean, i'm getting it for gaming. So, what makes them so bad?

Plasmas sucked for gaming like 5 years ago when they had lag and burn in issues, thats not the case anymore tho you'll still find people spouting the same crap. They're now equal or better to LCDs because of their superior colour. However, they do use a massive amount of energy vs LCDs which is why there is moves to ban their sale.

LCD's suck for watching normal tv though, they run at 50hz, laggy ghosting. unless its a sony.

i have a LCD in my room (for gaming) and a plasma downstairs, and ive never had problems with either.

Any decent LCD will run at 120hz these days.

i have a sony 42" LCD hdtv connected to a premium 360 and it's great!
i also have pioneer 50" plasma hdtv connected to an elite 360 and like someone mentioned the detail & color is amazing...playing games/watching movies on it was like a new experience at 1st because of the visual improvements! (but then you just get use to it)

LCD's are great and more than likely better suited for gaming, but there's no comparison with the RIGHT PLASMA HDTV imo!
shop around and return anything you are not completely satisfied with...some are better than others!

Since this is a debate about 2 different types of TVs and not the 360, it belongs in the General Hardware forum.
