So my birthday is in a week or so (april 16) and i have the option to go purchase a 360. i really want one. But here lies my problem. the xbox 360 elite comes out only a couple weeks later. my question is, should i wait for the elite or should i get the one now. what are the advantages of the elite. i know the elite has 120 GB hardrive, and it has an HDMI spot, but is it worth the extra 80$. I also really dont need all that space, i dont plan on getting movies and such. i do plan on playing online games and occasionally downloading games from XBLA. Do i need the extra space. Please Help Me Decide. Pros and Cons.

From everything you said, you want the Premium. Unless your TV only has HDMI input, then no the Elite is not for a consumer such as yourself.

well im still a little confused. what does the new addition of the HDMI thing do. I have a 47" HDTV so i would like it to look the best that it possibly can. Does it come with the HD cables. Do i really need 100 gb's of extra space. will the 80$ more be worth it. after all the expenses (elite+ GeOW) and a store discount i can get it for around 490. is it worth it. or should i just go buy one right now.

Pretty much the only thing the elite will have over the Premium is the HDMI and bigger hard drive. So if you don't think you need all that HD drive space, and you don't have a TV with an HDMI input, you might as well get the premium.

But like i said earlier, i do have a 47" HDTV and i want it to look the best it can. is that worth the extra 80$. in your opinion is the 20GB enough space. this is very important because i have to make a decision before they phase out the original.

I don't think the extra space is necessary at all, I've never gone beyond having less than 7 GB left on my hard drive. The component cables can do HD so it will look great anyway.

i recomend getting the elite, i dont have one and i prob wont get one but if i was in your possition id go with the elite just cuz its got the extra stuff. it will save you a lot of money in the long run, if microsoft brings somethin out that needs the hdd space or the hdmi port, you wont need to upgrade, its already there for you where as i would have to go out and spend extra for the upgrade

Well if microsoft did do something like that, then everyone else would have to upgrade anyway, so i would be in the exact same boat as everyone else. i really dont need that many space.

Money is DEFINITELY a FACTOR for me. I'm not rich, and i have just enough money to pay for it. if the elite is worth it, then i will still have to wait a while to get 80 moe $. but i can get 400$ by April 16th so im just wondering the the elite is worth it. My big thing is uncertainty. I really dont need the 120 GB, but i still dont know what they mean by HDMI Port. I have a 47" HDTV so if the HDMI thing makes it looks better, im all for that. but is it worth an extra 80$. Does online gaming stuff (maps, XBLA, etc.) take up a lot of space? or is 20 BG plenty. i guess you could say my lack of knowledge, i why im uncertaint, but hey that is why im asking.

there is no reason to get an elite... a premium has plenty of space and works just as well as the elite plus it's less expensive

ok you said you wanted the picture quality at the best so if your hdtv has hdmi input then you would want the elite for the best hd picture. current xbox 360 only output analog so even with component or vga cables, compared to hdmi the picture will look slightly washed out. as for the 120gb of space look at it as never having to worry if you'll run out of space. maybe someday you'll decide you want to download movies and tv shows, or just years of xbla downloads and themes and gamer picture and even game saves will slowly but surely take up space. if you have 120gb you pretty much will never have to worry about it. so having said that if you got a hdtv with hdmi input go for the elite and look at the hdd as an added bonus of no worries about the future of your downloading.

Alright thanx guys for your input. i think i am going to go with the Premium. The extra 80$ and time just doesnt seem worth it. my TV only plays up to 720i so i wont need the HDMI. i can just buy the component cables. The extra 100 gb's just seems a little exessive. And ill be in the exact same boat as the people with the premium right now. i greatly doubt i will run out of space, because i probably wont buy movies, and i probably wont buy any XBLA games since i have a WII (VC). The Premium just seems more practical for me. Also i dont have 480$ and i wont have that any time soon, so i think that this is my best bet. after all the expenses from the elite and a copy of GeOW would be 540$ and i definetly dont have that money. But thanx for all your input it was most helpful.

I voted elite because you said you have an HDTV so HDMI does matter to you, and the black console looks better. Yet you can't go wrong with neither, and if you really don't care about the HDD or the HDMI, go premium, we all did.

Does it have an HDMI input? If it doesnt. Dont get it. My friend bought a PS3 (HDMI only) just for its nice graphics it can get in HD and stuff and his HDTV doesnt have an HDMI input so no HD for him. Id check out your TV first to make that clear. If you do buy the elite.
So in a nutshell
No HDMI input=Dont get elite but get premium.
HDMI input=Get elite.

since you have no clue, just get the premium.

you don't sound too much like a serious gamer, so you won't need all that space.

and since you don't know much about hd, the premium comes with hd cables.

GET THE PREMIUM...

O wow like that isnt he most insulting thing i have ever heard. I'm not a serious gamer. So just because i dont have a 360 doesnt make me a serious gamer. wow you are probably the most ignorant person i have ever seen. I know a lot and probably much more about the gaming world than you so i wouldnt assume anything. i may not know a whole lot about HD but in no way does that make me casual. BTW if you would have read i have already made my decision so everyone really doesnt need to keep posting. OMG i feel very insulted

My TV only runs in 720i so the HDMI input wont really make a whole lot of a difference. but i do have an HDMI input in my TV so it is compattible. But it really doesnt matter to me. that is why im going with the premium. After all it will barely make the picture better, i dont need 120 gb, and its way too expensive. i mean its a gaming console. and what do you do with gaming consoles? you play games. Do i need 120 gbs. no. do i need even 20? no. i think the premium will be quite enough.
