MS could buy EA 50 times over, but why would anyone think that would be a good investment? They already overpaid for Rare ...

jmartinez1983

The problem with Rare is that a lot of important people left after the purchase I think.

I'm not slamming Rare by my previous comment. I'm just saying that, with the money that MS paid for them, they have not generated the sales or interest for them to make a profit on that investment.

Well, M$ has the money. Bill Gates by himself is worth 56 billion according to Forbes. So imagine how much his company is worth. EA is a billion dollar company as well, but not as big as Microsoft though. I don't think M$ wants EA and that's the main reason I don't think they will buy them. I could see them buying Activision or even Ubisoft before EA. If M$ was smart, the would purchase more smaller Japan developers to make more games for their system. They also should really consider bringing out a REAL handheld game console to compete with Sony and Nintendo. That may happen with their next game console.

Even if microsoft wanted to it would risk hurting there company. There stock holders just losta BILLION dollars over th RROD add to that all the cash they have pissed away in there console gaming experiment that has yet to make a penny. Plus it would be a huge mistake EA doesn't make great games they are just smarter then thier competition. They have purchased the right's to all your favorite sports games and everything else including your favorite movie, book toon. They have been making shrewd moves and are getting bigger with all the cash thier making and will continue there dominance the smart (easy way) buy as many up and coming IP's (or the whole company) for new revenue streams. Microsoft needs to buy a couple small developers IMO and then infuse them with the cash to compete with EA. I would like to see them go after Square they need them and would hurt tier competition big time or maybe sega or strike deal with nintendo. All I know is they better do something before they end up with another bottomless money pit like the original xbox...

If MS can get EA as their 1st-party publisher, the war is over.

I mean c'mon... Madden...

while unlikely, it is possible; microsoft would get an amazing amount of exclusives, and EA likes money, which M$ has....

short answer No, they have shareholders to naswer for, its MS money not Bills. they should and could buy a controlling interest in stock, thats what Sony does with JP software houses it lets them know what new IPs are being worked on and gives them early access to get exclusives.

Imagine what it would do to the industry??? Whatever happens I would guess that it would be bad for everyone even xbox owners in the long run. We'd start to get 5 hour games with four online maps. It would be bad.

No, in some strange turn of events EA will end up buying Microsoft. Then in another turn of events Sony and Nintendo will surrender to EA and then in another turn of events EA will own the world.
