Which do you prefer? And yes, I'm doing this in anticipation of Dragon Age :P

I almost invariably chose melee classes, but in WoW my favorite character was my enhancement shaman. Loved the mix of cracking skulls and throwing out lightning bolts.

What class do you prefer?

I like to try out all classes. probably start out feeling the game as melee character, then play thief-like, then mage-y.

I decided that for my first playthrough of Oblivion ESIV, I would be a barbarian, because if all else fails, just smash your way through:D. My next go round will definitely be as an assassin though.

I've been playing RPGs since 2000, and I've always been a Warrior.

Normally either an archer or melee type character 'cause I'm boring like that.

In Oblivion (great game!) I played as a warrior/summoner. Let the summoned creature get the attention of the enemy then I'd clean up. Good strategy.

Cause its not really 360 specific, personally I dont mind but I've noticed gamespots mods are very sensitive about this kind of thing

I like classes like Paladin and Knight. Heavily armed, heavily armoured, heavily heavy characters that can run up and slice up dozens of baddies in a few minutes.

I always like to rock the long range damage dealing spell caster. Now I actually did not follow my usual path when picking for Aion. But in WoW I had a mage and loved the PoM Pyro combo. It all depends on the game though if you have to play solo its always nice to have enough health to survive bosses.

No matter how often I try to do ranged or magic, I always end up melee just because its the easier way to play, enemies allways rush in at me.

I play exactly the same way - start with a simple close combat melee character, then try stealth, then replay as a magical ranged character avoiding close combat where possible

I love sneak classes. There's just something about all the damage bonuses you get from putting a knife in someone's back when they aren't looking.

In WoW my main was a hunter, but then I made a healer druid and elemental shaman. I'd say my preferred class is healer/ magic damage. I avoid melee at all cost...

Paladin - heavy armor and curative abilities, weak to moderate attack.

It does depend on the game though, in some games it is very hard to survive at all if you're not a fighter.

This. I can't do straight melee, because there is always a reason to have some limited spells out there (usually to prevent me from having to take along a bunch of potions)... but I can't be a spell caster because once you run out of mana, or spell casting ability, you might as well run home to mommy.

I hear you about enhancement shamans. I want to see if I can create a similar character in Dragon Age, but I'll settle for a melee character, maybe with some protective spells if possible.
