For some reason I have been unable to connect with one user on my friends list recently. Whenever we try to join on eachother's host in Halo 2 we get network problem messages, and we are unable to connect in Gears of War, or even do chat in the dashboard. There was no specific event that brought this and it hasn't gone away for a few weeks now. Anyone encountered this before?

yes its something to do with you and your friends NAT. either one or both of your routers are stopping you and your friend from connecting. Run the XBL test and see what it says under (NAT), it should say, OPEN, MODERATE or STRICT. If it says STRICT then its best to get another router as fidling around trying to change it can be time consuming and very confusing if you dont know what your doing. If it says MODERATE then is not brilliant but its better than STRICT. Having a MODERATE setting is ok but can stop you from connecting to each other from time to time. If says OPEN then its either a problem at your friends end, his router may be on STRICT, your ISP or something i havent thought of. Get your friend to run the test to see what his NAT setting is.

That happenned to me awhile back, it was easy to solve. I told my friend to restart his console and I did the same, joined up afterwards.

i'm having the same problem as well. i've tried looking at my NAT twice (with different modems bot htimes) and once it was open and once it was moderate. here the scenario:

my cousin just switched Internet service providers, and i just moved(now using diff isp and diff modem). before this change we've never had problems. so the current router gives me open with NAT and my old one (one that has worked before) has moderate NAT. so I'm going to try connecting with him tomorrow with a couple different routers and what not. I'll post here again to tell everyone my solution.

p.s. dante2710, nice avatar, haha.

If you have verizon fios then send me a pm and I can definately help. If not, then you have to go to your router settings and change open up port forwarding and make your 360 ip the dmz host.
