Hello all, I am 18 and have had xbox live since I was 16.  As Such on my original xbox i was forced to create a childs account and when i got my 360 a year ago I migrated it over.  Since then I've purchased my fair share of content... beat a dozen games and earned a gamerscore of a couple thousand as long as met alot of great friends.  With the update of MSN messanger I was very exciting but when I went to use it it said i had a child account.  This lead me to believe that maybe it was outdated since I'm 18.  Here is where the problem begins.  In British Coumbia, Canada, you need to be 19 to have a credit card so I'm under my mom's mastercard. I figured this may be why I am title a child account.  So I figured I could either A) wait till 19 and switch the credit card to my name B) Be old enough to use this feature and ask xbox's customer support why, or C) make a new account claiming its my mom actually playing so I could have full access.  So I proceeded to call Xbox's Customer Support to ask them why I couldn't use this feature.  They told me its because when I created this account I was 16 so I can't do it. I then proceeded  to ask if since im 18 they can update it or if when im 19 i can be an adult account.  They then told me that even when I'm 19 and have my own credit card it will always be a child account.. this really  bothered me and I asked if I could transfer my DLC over to a new account or just make my current one mine.  They said even when I'm 40 it will always be a childs account.   PLEASE my fellow gamers tell me this guy is incorrect or theyre is a way around my problem.  Thanks just for reading this and thanks *2 for actually helping. :)

It will work when you turn 60... seriously though, Microsoft said that they are working on a fix for the age problem. Although, by the time that fix comes out, you might just be 60 lol

right now, unless you make an entirely new xbox live account there's nothing you can do.

I think the whole child thing is stupid. I bet kids under 18 use instant messengers more than people over 18 and they won't let the kids use it...

and it doesn't make any sense
you have to be 13+ to use msn on the pc, but on the 360 its an adult thing? someone on a child account is allowed to talk to strangers over the mic, use the xbl cam, text chat with strangers... but to message their friends on msn they have to be 18+? kind of backwards

^ Can Someone PLEASE explain to me the retionality behind that... Its ****in stupid.. and unless they mentioned it in the TOS...which I didn't read...I'm pretty disappointed with MS's decision here.  I leave for college next year and basically unless I want to re-buy old content...I'm stuck paying mommy on her card till I die.
