After a full charge, my controller doesn't seem to stay charged up very long. Within about 20 or 30 minutes of disconnecting the charge cable from the controller, it loses a bar. It doesn't take more than an hour or an hour and a half to get down to a half charge. Anyone else have this problem or know a remedy?

Let the battery run out completely next time before recharging.

Yeah I always let it do that, but it still doesn't hold the charge for long.

I have had my new charger for a little over a year. At first it can last like 2-3 weeks and still be full. These days it's more along the lines of after 5 days it loses 1 bar. An old one I had ended up lasting like a day or two and it had to be charged again... it was hideous.

All my battery packs died fast. My plug and play cable died. All of the black controllers I've owned have had a joystick go out, and my white ones had bumpers go out. None of it is made to last. The only one I have that still works good is my ODST controller.

I've never had a problem with my rechargable packs. But I have the charger that you just plug in to the wall, not plug and charge. I always have charged batteries. Though I need to buy another one as I just got a new controller with my new xbox. so I'll need a 4th battery so one can always be ready to go.

Did you buy the official, Microsoft rechargeable battery pack? I know this may sound silly, but in personal experience those have worked the best compared to the other random ones. The other ones seems to die within 3-4 months and the battery life doesn't last long on them at all (Mine went out with in 1-2 hours). Where as with the offical microsoft ones, for about 1-2 hours of charging, for me it lasts atleast 6-7 hours and iv'e currently had the microsoft one for about 2 years with no faults.

As someone else has said, it is always best to let the battery run out fully before recharging it. I used my 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack for about 2-3 years and they lasted really good, probably about 3-5 days if not more of a lot of use. After some time they wouldn't even charge anymore, I put them in the controller and the controller would turn on and then turn back off. I went to buy replacements but now they only sell the $20 play and charge kits. Didn't make any sense for me to pay $40 just for 2 rechargeable batteries. So I just bought Rechargeable AA's to use. The best kind is Sanyo Eneloop, the chargers are all much the same but for batteries Sanyo Eneloop and Duracell tend to be best. You can get a good deal around or on amazon.com Probably your best remedy. Good luck

You can connect and disconnect the controller until the light turns red instead of green and it will take charge. But don't plug the controller all the way in, just enough for the light to go on, then just keep repeating the process until the light stays red; when it stays red for more than about 20 seconds then you're good to go. (this can take a long time)

By the way, my 360 usually fails to charge my controllers but my laptop does it with less effort, so you might want to try that too.

(I have the official microsoft cable with two official batteries that were bought less than a year ago)
